This all you can eat seems to be a better deal than the $34 for 1 lobster at the Harbour Front.

Sounds like a VERY good deal to me for $25!!!

How are the lobsters cooked? I assume it's just steamed and it's served hot?

How big are the lobsters? Do you go up and get them yourselves or do you order and have them brought to the table?

i suppose they are steamed/boiled...looked like at least medium size to me (could be bigger than medium, but i am no expert on lobsters)

you can go to the buffet table yourself, and pick what you want and how much you want

they do recommend reservation, even though it is rarely a full-house...not even close to that

stupid question but do they give you heated butter??! Lobster just doesn't taste the same w/o it being drenched in butter..mmmmmmmmmm...*drool*

Should've mentioned it last week, I was craving lobster all week last week. Still want some now!!!

Thanks for the post! =D

EDIT - On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you rate the lobster? 10 being the best thing you've ever had. Are they the same or better than the lobsters u get at mandarin??

yes...they have a heated butter pot with a laddle ...

it is a nice place and does not in anyway look like the cheap buffet places

i have never had lobster at mandarin...but these come close to the lobster i had in montreal in a swanky and expensive restaurant...i guess i'll give them at least 6-7 (10 being perfect)

yea just wanted to know, $25 for AYCE lobster (quality wise being better than avg) is pretty good

nothing like tail with butter/garlic/pepper/salt and maybe lemon

asim99
Jul 11th, 2005, 02:48 PM
one note to add:

do not take my evaluation of quality as a final word....since i am not much of a lobster eater...it's just that they looked good to me and my friends who like lobsters

may be some lobster connoisseur should add his/her comments here after visiting that place

i have a feeling that they can scrap the deal anytime...so if you really want to use it, use it soon...do not wait forever...and definitely call them and reserve before you go, to be sure

there was no real seating time limit...i suppose we were there for about 2 hours...

on live or frozen, may be you can call the restaurant and check...i didn't ask

yes I was there sometimes in May. I would highly recommend this place. good salad selection as well, other foods are just average, and they don't have soup (which is my favourite).

I had 5 (and I ate 2 lobsters head too, which could fill me up). so if you just go and eat the tails, I assume you are able to eat more, and the waitress there doesn't care if you don't eat the whole thing.

Yummy, lobsters. And for the post about if it's better than the ones at mandarin, i'm not sure where you've been and Mandarin does not serve lobster. They serve crab legs. Google up the definition of the two and you'll get different answers lol. Also, have you noticed at Mandarin that the asian ppl only eat the crab legs hehehe (being one myself). I'm looking around and the white people (or caucasian, whatever you want to be called) go for rice and chicken balls while the expensive crab legs are right there! Quite funny. Anyways, I'll have to check out this lobster place so I can get my family to go raid it lmao!

they use to a few years ago

i remember they only gave 1 per person lining up for it
so even if the kids we had around didnt want it, we made them line up with us to get 1 so we can have 2...then line up again

I am not quite comfortable with the comment you just made. It's as if somebody else made another comment with the words "yellow" instead of "white", "oriental" instead of "caucasian", and another stereotype instead of "go for rice and chicken balls". It's not very nice, isn't it? Please reconsider next time if you think about making another comment like that. Thank you.

I just re-read D.NGUYEN's message and realized that he/she also made an observation regarding himself and other Asians as a self-depreciating joke. Yes I noticed that to, I see all the Chinese people stacking plates of mussels and shrimp in the buffet line, happens no matter what restaurant I go to...

P.S. this doesnt deserve a thread of its own but after 9:30pm on weeknights, Frankie Tomatoes slashes its buffet price to around $8.99!

lobsters are steamed (a bit overcooked since the meat was a little tough, imo) and they're around 1/2 to 3/4 lb in size. i had 6 of them when i went. they also have really good cold peel n eat shrimp as well.

Buffets are typically one of the hardest type of restaurants to survive in the business - and i am sure whatever price they determined will not make them a loss even if they get the large numbers. Instead, we are actually helping them profit and keeping this deal alive for all our benefits!

I don't think that lots of ppl going will help because I remember a few years back the Sheraton hotel in Richmond Hill had like a $20 something buffet with all you can eat lobsters and then more and more ppl went so they finally had to stop having the buffet but then I think they came back with AYCE lobster but for $30 something, also the hilton suites hotel has AYCE lobster and crab legs for $30 something too but they are served cold...

Well let's hope the demand is good enough that they keep AYCE lobster alive for $25 but not high enough to make them charge more!

How dare you? Who do you think you are? Yeah, we all read your 500 daily posts on how you are gay and the world hates gays and the government hates gays and the church hates gays and frogs hate gays and grass hates gays and air hates gays.....we get it. But for you to call me a homophobe because I made a light-hearted comment about it being in a gay area is completly unjustified.

Go find some other cause to whine about buddy and stop thinking you are "cool" because you are gay (that is sssooooooo 1996). Give me a break. A joke of the calibre that you would hear on any TV show (Everybody Loves Raymond would not find this a taboo topic), a jestful jab, the likes of which are have been told for the last century, and you get insulted?? You all really need to lighten up and get out more. Who said anything about rape??

Assuming they didn't grossly miscalculate their prices (ala Red Lobster), it's impossible for restaurants to get abused by being full. If they make profit from 1 customer, then they make even more profit from additional customers - basic math. It's not like FutureShop when they have loss leaders on sale.

This thread is an example of why I love redflags. Its intention is to help consumers find deals, but it also ends up encouraging a lot of superfluous spending. Good for us, good for businesses.

Internet2 is not a publicly available network. It's confined to certain educational institutions. I'm sure 99% of the people on Redflagdeals have never used it, so the comment about more than one Internet is completely irrelevant. The term "*the* Internet" is always used, implying there's only one.

Yes, but that still means there are two Internet's even though only 1% of the population use it. :) It still exists and therefore is plural.

No, it doesn't. Internet2 is not considered "an internet". Have you ever even seen the term "an Internet" used? I could call my home network "Internet 68" because it's composed of two subnets, and thus it's a network of networks. But that would just be nonsense.

So, no. There is one Internet. And it's referred to as "The Internet".

Ontario universities are connected via the Orion optical network. They don't call this "Internet O" or something dumb like that. And no one refers to it as "yet another Internet".

Hot deals has more visitors, yes, more readership.
And it seemed like that post you provided, was a very long thread, most likely people wouldn't go read each individual post and identify which is the best.

Just got back from it. I didn't make reservations. I took the chance of going to get a table. I got there at 6:30PM and asked for a table for 2. The lady went to check, and i got it! Their were plenty of 2 people tables, but all the 4's were reserved it seemed. The lobsters were pretty good! I had about 6, along with popcorn shrimp, fried smelt. Their was a fruit bowl if you wanted fruits. Let's see...hm..a platter of cheese. House salad, which is just mixed stuff. And....3-4 of these weird salad type things. Like beans or macaroni or whatever it was for appetizer. Also they had chicken, roast beef, potato, penne pasta (garbage), and..i think thats about it.

For parking, i parked at a meter across from the restaurant. Beside McDonalds. $2 for 1 hr. Not bad. Considering they had $10 flat rate next to it, and if you wanted to park at the hotel itself, it was $27 flat rate. LOL. What a scam.

I guess I have to reply your msg on behalf of most members. It is our choice to eat what we want to spend and eat. I had been summerlicious/winterlicious and I really think this lobster dinner is very close to the quality of the -licious dinner, if not better.

I had spent $20 on the -licious dinner and find myself in a fast food place afterward.

Tonite, I filled myself up with decent lobster. Altho they were boiled, I enjoyed them a lot with the hot butter dip.

Don't just look at the price to determine the quality of the dinner.

Here's my mini-review:

Went Sat 16th at 6:30...TONNES of chinese folk there. Parking was $10 flat rate for valet parking, so not bad if you're going to stay around that area until 1AM i believe.

The lobsters are literrally non-stop coming out of the kitchen. At the most you'd have to wait 3-5 minutes from the time the tray was empty until they brought out a new one. So if you decide to go, no need to fight over anything, there will be enough to fill your hearts content.

I went with 2 guys and 2 girls, On average we had 5-8 lobsters each. The poor waitress had alot of cleaning up to do of shells. I seen some people have plates and plates on the table with 4-6 lobsters on each plate waiting to go.

The lobsters themselves were boiled and must've pre-boiled, cause some of them were over cooked and hard by my standards. Sizes would range from 0.75 to 1.25 lbs and some lobsters had 2 claws some had one, some had a big one and small one...The tails themselves make it worth it if that's your cup of tea. With the butter and choosing the right lobster, I would give it a 6/10 for quality of lobster. (Lobster trap or Lobster Royale being 9/10)

The rest of the food was decent as well, quarter chicken, popcorn shrimp, freshly sliced roast beef, potatoes, cocktail shrimp, salad, pastas, and a really good assortment of cakes...they were sliced pretty damn big.

You hands get messy as all hell and the nearest washroom is outside the restaurant thorugh the lobby and down the hall...quite out of the way.

Overall, I would say it's worth the money. Grab 4-5 lobsters just for the tail, grab a huge peice of carrot cake, a quarter chicken and you've already got your money's worth. I would have to say the experience was 7/10 and worth it if you can eat that much. don't go there if you're expecting GOURMET lobster, you'll need to eat more than lobster to get full value.

I wouldn't go again in the near future, cause just the thought of lobster makes me cringe now  But i would say it's worth checking out if you'rein the area, I wouldn't drive anymore than half-hour if you were coming out of town.

Here's my mini-review:

Went Sat 16th at 6:30...TONNES of chinese folk there.
.
.
.
I went with 2 guys and 2 girls, On average we had 5-8 lobsters each.

Was there a necessity to identify the nationality of the patrons? I am sure Occidentals enjoy this deal as much otherwise there would not have been interest in this restaurant by anyone here. Unless you are trying to introduce a stereotype, then why not point yourself out as well if you are identifying others.

SENSEI
Jul 17th, 2005, 11:09 PM
My bad, I'm also chinese...i thought the SENSEI name was enough to signify an oriental decent.

When i went there, my party was expecting to see alot chinese people there, we just can't let AYCE lobster slip away without trying it. I'm not trying to introduce any stereotype, it's already out there....just poking fun at ourselves...

Didn't mean to single anyone or leave anyone out. :(

The review holds for ALL races of any colour and creed.... :cheesygri

I am surpised that there are so little review and comments about this place. I went with 4 other people and arrived at around 6:30pm. Had reservations so getting a table was not an issue. I'm not going to post a review or anything but for the people wondering if it is worth going, I'll say it is. The lobster quailty was good, but after more people starting to come in, like the previous poster said, they must have pre boiled it to keep up the demand cuz it was a bit overcooked later in the evening.

The prime rib/roast beef (whichever i was too busy eatting) was very good. I would have more if I didn't stuff my face with lobster. The salad dressing they had was also very good. Overall it is worth the $25 bucks, I've spent $35 USD to eat at the Rio seafood buffet at Vegas for the lobster and it cannot even compare to this one.

I went this past Saturday. Got the 24.95 buffet and ate oh-so-many lobsters. Lots of Asians there on that night, probably like 85% Asian with just a few Caucasian and black people there.

I didn't have a reservation at all, walked in, table for two, and got a space. I'd say about 85% at capacity with seats still, so even if you don't have reservations you're fine.

When I got my cut, it was really tender. Like wayyyy too tender, but this was after eating like 4 lobsters, so... actually anything I ate tasted like lobster, lol.

I'm an average lobster eater, about 1-2 a month. On the whole, it's not bad at all. You can eat lobster tails till you get sick of them.

I didn't like the roast beef. I'm used to eating it cooked, not fresh from the chopping board :cheesygri

The waiters are a bit slow though...and you'll have to ask for water refills. But this buffet is harder compared to other buffets, because after each lobster you have to get a new plate. But i just got 2 plates and stacked it high with all the shells and stuff.

well I was referring to the lobster in Rio compare to this one. The lobster at The Rio was a joke, its just tiny lobster tails and it was salty even without the hot butter. The Rio has of course much more seafood selections, but I went because it was the only buffet I know that has lobster. I made the mistake at eatting at Bellagio, it cost the same but it only has crab legs. The selection was not that great either but the quaility is very good. Thats about the only thing that is good about the buffet at the Bellagio.

I had the buffet at the Bellagio in Vegas about 1 year ago,

First off, I am not a huge fan of buffets to begin with. (generally you eat twice as much as is necessary) but this one is unreal).

The quality and variety of food was truly staggering. No lobsters but king crab legs and very nice shrimp. Plus everything from wild boar to venison to gourmet pizza to sushi

Everything was being made fresh in plain view, and continually refreshed.

Price was about $30 US as i recall.

Even better on our last day we decided to go back to the Bellagio for breakfast after having been underwhelmed (and over charged ) at a few hotels the previous few days.

We arrived about 30 mins b4 they changed over to lunch so we got the best of both worlds. Eggs Bennie, bacon, sausage, smoked salmon waffles etc, then for lunch most of the items mentioned b4. They had to take me out in a wheelchair

thanks but this is toronto.... no bellagio here. Ill stick to mandarin ... best breakfast place in TOWN is BOOM BREAKFAST on college and ossignton... super clean extremely modern looking place... food is outstanding... ive tried breakfast all over the city this takes the cake by far.

BOOM POWER BREAKFAST

potato wedges - big portion
bacon or ham or sausage (3 strips of bacon large) or (3 sausages large)
eggs/ scrambled or sunny side up - big portion

go on the weekday and coffee is free and unlimited.

seriously a must for you breakfast freeks. I suggest go early on the weekends as it gets line ups that go outside.

first off... thanks to the ASIMM99 for the post. took my family in to try it out.

second i'm no expert in food reviews and i'm just going by memory and what my family has said.

made reservations and was still able to add a couple of people 3 hours before.

got there at 8pm and parked on the street. was lucky to find parking nearby. but if not there is a parking lot right beside the hotel for $10. the restaurant was clean and had a cozy feel. it wasn't a huge open space which i though was nice. the buffet tables (i think 5 in total) were lined up in the main isle.

as for the foods... there were bread, cheese (3 or 4 different types), sliced deli meats, salad, 1/4 chicken, roast beef, pasta, baked potatoes wedges, shrimp (cold), fried smelt, fruits, variety of cakes and of course the lobster. can't remember if there were anything else.

the lobsters were a fair size. not small and now huge. they came out in the buffet tray filled up with whole lobsters. the lobsters were steamed and they had the butter sauce heating thing there for you to scoop into a dipping sauce bowl. the first batch of lobsters we got had still had the sh*t in the tails. but after that it was all clean. later on at around 9 at batch of lobsters came out sliced in half which made it really easy to eat. but then the next batch was back to whole lobsters. the lobster were imo a little overcooked but it could be because of other reasons mention by other in the thread. but nonetheless it was good. remember for $25 all you can eat lobster i have nothing to complain about. the other foods were ok but wouldn't justify a $25 buffet without the lobsters.

overall for $25 you can't go wrong. there were an endless supply of lobsters right till the end (the last tray still was full when they closed). you don't have to wait long for them to refill the tray either. the roast beef and chicken wasn't amazing but enough to add value to the buffet. after i got sick of the lobster made myself a sandwich with the dinner buns and sliced meat and cheese. had some cake and fruits afterwards to end it all.

we had 4 to 8 lobster each including the claws (but no heads). the table next to us ate only the tails and left all the claws (which i thought was a waste). but we asked the waitress how many lobster they go through and she said about 30 cartons of 15 lobsters each. so.... 450 lobsters per saturday.

For another good lobster deal in DT TO, check out the Delta Chelsea (at least for those who have an entertainment.com book). There is a coupon for their restaurant (BB33) for 2 for 1 entrees up to $27. I was there about a month ago and they had an all you can eat seafood buffet for $35. Even though the buffet is not an entree, they let me use the coupon. Two meals average out to 21.50. I think they only have it on Fridays. They had lobster (minus the tail, but including hot butter!), crab, etc... It was a really great meal. I would definitely recommend it.
What are you supposed to tip on a buffet? The coupons always say to tip on the full amount before the deduction - but are you supposed to give them 15% when they haven't done anything but tell you where to grab a plate?

Just use the entertainment card tonight to get $27 off the seafood buffet, no question asked. (but $27 is off after tax, instead of before tax)

Food quality is a lot better than the $25 one. Lobster is served chilled, but taste very good - not too quick for replenishment though.

King crab leg & roast beef are very tasty, also have a lot of other good seafood selections (e.g. smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, smoked tout, big shrimp, fish, scallop etc) definitely better value than Marriott-Courtyard. that's why it costs $35 regular price.

I skipped them an ate prime rib and mushroom ravioli instead.

my sentiments exactly as well. The lobster definitely was the worst lobster i've ever had.

it was either
1) precooked too much
2) frozen too long
3) frozen too cold
4) cooked far too much
or a combination of those.

The lobster was so over cooked, the meat stuck to the shells. The shells were too soft to crack like normal, making it even more difficult to eat. And every once in a while i had one that didn't taste bland, but they were few and far between.

I was something nice to try, but I don't think i'll be returning anytime soon.

I'm surprised no one said this last week? Unless there was quite a difference in the food from last week and this week?

Also, did the buffet end rather early? I was there and @ 8:30-8:45 the food supply was being cut off it seemed. Maybe they ran out of food?

...ya, they were really hard to open.....the first couple that i ate was a bit bland.....all the lobster taste got boiled out maybe?....or maybe i just wasn't able to get around to eating enough meat on that to get all the lobster juices out from it.....by the time i got around to my 4th and 5th lobster, i was getting the hang of things, and i was able to crack the tail open and eat the whole thing! .....but then, again, no much lobster taste to it, and the meat was rough.....overcooked??? ...or did i just had too much of it....?

...the fuit bowl was nasty!....think they had some preservatives in it or something.....it had an extra taste to it.....yuk!

...other desserts were good too.....by the time i got around to dessert, all the cheesecakes were gone... =(
...instead, got a chocolate thing with raspberries on top of it....that was good!! mmmmmmmm

...o, and the roast beef or watever that person was cutting for me, was very good as well......espeically with the gravy....mmmmmmm

i actually thought that there wasn't enough food......i mean, the choices were really limited.....i guess the main point of the restaurant is to serve lobsters?

would i go back?....hmmmm......sure i would.....but then, not next week or anytime soon.....lol.

and i totally agree with convoluted.......the food were taken away too early.....
btw, where were you guys sitting? (ferkel and convoluted, and any others that went last night....)

this was the crap that came out of two lobster tails. Tail meat is supposed to be firm right? It basically disintegrated into this stuff on the plate. Not much meat from two lobster tails as you can see, which explains why people can eat 8 lobster tails.

:cheesygri

So I'm asian as well, can I make fun of chinese ppl because I'm one... because when it comes to buffets, especially with the ones I go to in Scarborough (Buffet King) etc... seem like it's a freakin' fight for food. Damn asians stand around like vultures... waiting for food to come out, it's like they don't have enough food in China.

I didn't get cheesecake either :( They replaced their layer cakes with more layer cakes... they were good, but i love cheesecake. I grabbed the grapes and strawberries from the cheese plate instead of the fruit bowl.

We sat near the kitchen door, (right next to it) 4 of us, 2 guys 2 girls. We had a good view of the lobster when it was replenished.

I think I need to reconsider about Marriott after reviews for this Sat. Btw, can I just use the coupon from entertainment.com instead of discount card to Delta buffet on Fridays?

not sure about the coupon from entertainment.com. I used the discount card. The waiter did not take it away to punch a hole, and simply applied the discount for me. So I'm thinking I could try going back for a weekend brunch.

I was there by 6pm. Only about 2/3 tables. So nobody go for lobster.

By the time I'm done around 7:30pm, there was a lot of people, but mostly tourist and older folks with kids, and they weren't going for lobster. They would take 1 or 2, and that's it. Most of them seemed very classy and polite. No one fought for food :)

So if you go early, you shouldn't have a problem getting lobster.

i was there last week and the lobster meat was nice and firm. (for the first couple of hours aways).
What you guys experienced this week was exactly like the lobster being served in the last hour of the buffet.

For the people that review this week, just wondering what time you started and how big where the lobsters?
I was there at 6:30 till close last week.
The good batch of lobsters were canners, prob 3/4 to 1lbs. The crappy lobster then came out after 8pm where actually the larger lobsters 1-1 1/2lbs..they where the ones with the soft shell and loose meat.

Did anyone that went this week-end (and early) get any "good" lobster?

I was there yesterday @6:15 till 9:00.
The food generally speaking was okay but the lobsters were terrible. Beef was okay and dessert were good.

I mean, they were not even overcooked. I was embarrassed because I asked 2 of my friends join me last night. The lobsters meat was beyond recognition  Lobsters were not fresh and most likely left-over from last weekend??? When you crack open the tail, forget anything about tenderless, juicy lobster meat. I was sick after the "buffer" and I think I stopped touching the lobster after 2-3 trials.

I saw a table of four next to us ordered from menu. They sat for 45 mins before their food arrived. I tried to offer them lobsters but they said "no".

Terrible experience. Will never visit the place the rest of my life.

well, the food became crap basically from them not being able to handle the sudden "rush" of customers and then resorting to pre-cooking the lobsters... which is the result of being "abused" imo from massive rfd invasion. dont get me wrong, thats completely their fault for not being able to handle full seating  .

sadly i havent gotten the chance to try it out yet because the gathering i was planning wasnt getting decisive answers. but o well, wait for the next deal :)

Lobsters had flavour, and were soft. The tails were not crumbly. However, 2-3 claws I got were a bit crumbly. Maybe too much muscle.

It was good for the amount of food you got for the 25$ price...but honestly the lobsters sucked....it didnt taste like lobster...just bland.

Not much meat in the tails, and the claws werent that good either.

but they had alot of food available for 25 bucks...so I didnt expect the best quality...but didnt expect the lobsters to be that terrible. I wouldnt go back.

But again...its 25 bucks..so i dont think anyone can really complain, if you want to at a better lobster you are going to have to PAY for it! :)

Aside from the bad lobsters there were tons of fruit flies all over the food, a fly actually landed in my drink , and I'm not joking.. something big and black dropped from the ceiling, and landed on our table and ran off onto the carpet/floor. Went this past Sat with family. The lobsters weren't that great. About 8/10 lobsters had mushy meat, the other 1-2 were "okay". It was at about 65% capacity with lots of available seats... though lines at the buffet table, esp the lobster was long. The other food was okay, roast beef was not bad, desserts okay. Not worth $25 if the quality of lobster is this bad, but go try for yourself, you might get lucky. Maybe the lobsters themselves deliberately made themselves taste yucky, so that they can save the rest of their family from being eaten by hungry RFDers. Smart lobsters they are eh? :D

Well,
customers are customers all the same wether they are from RFD or somewhere else- the food should still be just as good hopefully.

Just because someone hears of a "deal" on here, does that mean they automatically get crappier food.

this exists with priceline customers too... its like b4 rfd, each customer eats 4lobster, but the rfders eat 8+

and customers are most certainly NOT ALL THE SAME... rfd'ers have predispostion to try to maximize their purchase moreso than others. e.g. non rfder eat until they are full, rfder eat past that until they are about to puke

Was there @ 5:15PM today (booked table for 5:30) and the lobsters are ok (not the greatest as expected) I had 5 of them including claw. Lobster brains were a bit plain (not as tasty as expected), and the meat is just slightly overcooked. They are abt .75lb -1 lb each.

And since we are there early, no line up for lobster, and by the time we shifted our focus to the desserts, people start to show up...

However the shrimps are excellent, as well as the desserts! In fact I never have so much dessert for buffet before. I think I had 3-4 plates full of desserts...

all the mousse cakes (chocolate, orange, mocha and the best is passion fruit which I had 2 slices!) are great.

roast beef are pretty good too. And since we are sitting across from the kitchen doors, I notice they refill a full tray of lobsters appx every 3-5 minutes...

Services are great, and they do clean up the shell quickly. They do mention 2hrs limit when we arrived, but doesn't seems to be enforced. But then we are pretty much full after 2hrs anyways.....

As for seatings, when we arrived, there are only 3-4 tables. Around 6, I guess is about 40% full. By 7, is about 70% (a hugh table w/ appx 14-18 seats next to us starts arriving, also saw 2 round table abt 10 ppl each)

is it worth $25? YMMV. But for the good time we had w/ our friends, and lots of desserts, I think is worth it.

was there this past weekend as well table was also booked at 5:30

lobsters were decent sized but over cooked the meat ended up being a bit tough. also because of them being over cooked they did lose some flavour as well. (no mushy lobster experienced)

service was great as plates were quickly taken away never had to wait for any of the food to come out as they were all topped off frequently. roast beef was good and the selection of desserts was great.

for $25 a head its fair deal

Nobody would describe their experience like the way Susu does. The whole thread is an introduction rather than from a real experience. It is just too perfect:

"muscles in a chili and lime sauce"
"filet of fish in a hollandaise sauce"?
"This is definately a superb deal and advise anyone and everyone to check it out".

It is Susu's first post. Why not? If I am the owner or an employee, I would be curious to go to RFD to read about what people have to say. This mean more "new" posters could be from the restaurant. The good thing is we will get improvements, the bad thing is we are getting a price hike!

How was the quality?

CONS
1.the lobster tail was a lil chewy, not as soft as i would have hoped...
2.the service was average, out of the 5 water refills i got i had to ask for 4 of them...
3. the deli meats, cheese, tomato chicken, roast beef, and other selections were average
4. washrooms were outside the buffet, quite a walk to wash off lobster juice off hands
5. no soups, no ice cream

PROS
1. easy eatting, i was able to eat the shrimp and lobster with very little effort (tails: rip off from head, rip off the end fan of the tail, dig in your fork and pops out the meat...very easy!). Same for the shrimp, they have a slit so you can just pull on the legs and off comes the shell
2.non-stop fresh lobsters, they were constantly hot and refilled every 5min or less
3. mango pie/cake/mousse was the best i've every tasted...I had myself 3 slices after i was already stuffed!
4. the fish was amazing and buttery goodness through out the fish meat!
5. not that busy when we got there at 6pm, didn't have to fight off old grannies when the lobsters came!!!! even when we left at 8 the buffet was only half filled...So for those of you who pass and and think OH S**T i forgot to make reservations.....NO WORRIES, just walk right in like so many others!

Overall scores-out of 10
1.Taste of all the food: avg of 6.5
2.Taste of lobster: 7 (this is low for some people in here, but after eatting the 5th lobster in butter...it got boring!)
3. Selection (in comparison to china buffet king):3---->but if you're there for lobsters, i warn you....eat yourself 6-10 plates of lobsters BUT make sure you don't go over 1 plate of the other selections, don't fill up on the other crap
4. freshness/refill turnover for lobsters: 10
5. turnover for other foods ie cheese: 3 (didn't really see anyone eat at the far end of the buffet)

I would add more, but i'm damn tired right now...
But for those who want to know....everyone in my group paid exactly $35 with tax and tip included, this is fair considering the slow service you would expect for a $28+tax buffet....

Now, is it worth it....???

That is based on your own opinion, but for myself....it was a pricey dinner! Sure it was lobster, but I'm not that big on seafood! I just really wanted to try it out. Quality is fair, not the best if you're a seafood lover. So for those who rarely splurge (thats right, I'm talking to you RFD'ers :) ) its worth the money trying as a one time thing. But for those who are used to eating quality seafood platters don't expect too much, the buffet will seem kind of bland! But once again, its based on your own subjective opinions, so flammers no need to point out how amazing of an experience you had, What i wrote is based on what all my friends and I were saying while eating! Over all, I have to say it is worth your money. For $35, you can easily eat 5-6 lobsters and say "I ate my money's worth"!!! So, for some of my big eatters out there, go enjoy!

u can make lobster omelette, I had it at the hotel when I was in Boston, its really nice... but to get so many lobsters for cheap you gotta live in a boring place like New Brunswick so really nothing to brag about, I rather live in Toronto and buy expensive lobsters...

review, last sat. of aug.

reserved at 6:30, got there around 6:30. still plenty of seats left but around 7:45-8, the room was kind of full but still seating left.

the lobster were over cooked as usual, it tastes like rubber as what my uncle said. (he's a very picky lobster eater) so he spoke to the manager, the manager told him "ok, i will get the chief to speak to you" as the result after talking to the chief, the lobster will always be overcook because, they are bought in cases pre-cooked and frozen. the resterant would have to reheat them, as the result they'll be overcooked.

roast beef was awesome though. dessert was allright, they only serve 1 cheesecake. after that they wont bring anymore out, instead they bring out the "cheap" black forest.. yuk

other selection were, swordfish (was allright), mussel in some kind of black sauce (yuk, it was dry and really small), shrimp (it's ok), then just the regular coldcuts, salad, pasta ... etc

i'm not very picky when it comes to food so i thought the chewy rubbery lobster were ok to me. i had 8 lobsters + 4-5 slices of roast beef, and some dessert. oh, after 3-4 lobster you start to get sick of it.

price, it's expensive!!. i paid $37 including tax, tip
it is ok to go once a month or something but not anymore than that.

The seafood buffet is $27. Not a bad deal since there's a reasonable choice of seafood appetizers, entrees, cheeses & cakes for dessert. Also some nice beers on tap.

Appetizers: snow crab legs, shrimp in shell & deveined, cold cuts, smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, caesar salad, various antipasto salads.

Entrees: lobsters of course (canners), sole stuffed with crab meat, wild salmon, chicken, prime rib.

Desserts: various fresh fruits and cakes.

No charge for tea & coffee.

Ok after seeing these Madarin videos of crab leg wars go to Imperial Buffet at the Warden Power Centre (eglinton and warden). Im not sure if its everynight, but friday and saturday for sure has crab legs. Its an all you can eat chinese buffet similar to the mandarin but better in my opinion. has roast beef, mashed potatos, corn, bbq chicken etc as well in addition to the regular chinese food you would find. no lobster though or garlic butter that I saw (although there may have been since there was all kinds of sauces everywhere). Its about 17.99 or so. Worth it in m opinion, alcohol is dirt cheap too. Its a really nice place, really big. Its at the back of the power centre and a little hard to find. Same side at the vietnamese place and cineplex (the power centre has a road diving it into two halves)

This is actually at the Eglinton Town Centre (Warden Power Centre is at a different location). Look for the Cineplex.
Peronally I prefer Starwalk Buffet to both of these at Kennedy and Steeles, just east of Kennedy..

Thank you.

Just got back from Starwalk and a little disappointed in the fact that it didn't have hot crab legs, only cold ones, but this is the best buffet for chinese vegetables. All of the varieties are good. There is prime rib here and the price is only $18.99 and there are more than just sides. There's a whole chinese buffet.

that's terrible...even if it's not true I'd still rather not eat at Starwalk haha.

I'm a foodie who have tried 10 cents dough fried hot dogs in Kiev, 12 egg omellette in Seattle, the reknown Bellagio Buffet, and up to the high end restaurants like RAIN. I can tell you that Starwalk is, in my opinion, the best Chinese buffet place in the GTA. No, they do not put laxatives in the food (why would they want customers clogging the toilets and making more room for more food?), and because it is within Toronto boundaries, it must abide by the food inspections. While the quality has gone down since its opening (every buffet does), it is still a better value then places like Mandarin (yes, even better then the famed Brampton location). I've never gotten sick and the food selection is better then most places. For example, you can get stuff like the mini duck wrap and shark fin soup (yes, there is shark fin in it, but almost invisible). They lack a good dessert selection though. Food tastes good...most dishes are not salty or oily like some other places, and you get a lot for a relatively cheap cost.

But it is not the best overall buffet though. If you are into sushi, a lot of the sushi places offer great food for the money. But that lobster buffet bested them all. It's lobster! A few people complained it was pasty and flaky, but everytime I went it was juicy and firm. It also had the best tasting dessert of any buffet I have tried. Although aside from the lobster, the rest of the entrees were very bland.

My top buffet pick at the moment is Zod at bayview and highway 7. $18.99 per person. It's a sit down style where you order the food and they bring it to you. A sushi buffet with a variety of other foods, most notably the all you can eat escargot.

I haven't gone back to the marriot since they stopped serving lobster, but I'm curious if they maintained the dessert quality. If it is all you can eat dessert as well, that might be worth the $21. When I tried it, the cakes were at least Dufflet quality, but usually much better.

instead of going to the lobster buffet as planed we found a place that had a lot of seafood buffet but no lobster. its buffet city (correct now) over on steeles and woodbine. they had lots of seafood.... three or four types of crab legs, fried shimp balls, shimp here and there, sushi and the rest of normal chinese foods you find at a buffet. oh the dessert was looked better than other places (didn't get to try it). the only thing lacking was a fruit (there wasn't much a selection).

for 16.99 on a weekend and ayce seafood i liked it better then starwok
