Well as the title says, can someone please help me. I'm a university student, so will be using it mostly to print essays and writings, but I'll print color photos once in a while and also scan photos and documents,

Keep an eye out for "Dell's X Days of Savings", which happens every 2-3 months. They usually have a Dell All In One printer on sale for $49, last time it was the A922.

Their last sale was the beginning of June, so if you're patient it should come around again.

i just hate lexmark printers and since dell's based on lexmark's core that's why i didn't buy it the last time it was for $49.99. i heard lexmarks printers are crap.

Yes, I've personally found Lexmark printers to be not very good. I've had ink problems with mine.

i'm just confused with the canon, epson, HP, and brother printers that are available for the price range, just don't know what to pick and don't want to pick the wrong one.

Having gotten rid of my Lexmark before the cost of consumables drove me into bankruptcy, I'd definitely tell everyone to avoid them. Much, much too expensive to operate.

I replaced the lexmark with a Canon Multipass MP360, and I still laugh every time I change out an ink cartridge. The canon is very cheap to operate and prints surprisingly fast and good. If/when the day comes that this one dies, I'll be buying another canon.

YMMV

I'd get this
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10049807&catid=10781
also networkable

I would also avoid DELL...looks like another lexmark

ahhh read a few reviews and have narrowed it down to 3 units, but still confused as which one to get:

Brother MFC420CN http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10049807&catid=10781

Epson Stylus CX4600 http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10050499&catid=10781

Canon PIXMA iP4000 http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10048831&catid=10232

i know the PIXMA iP4000 is a inkjet but I have read a lot of positive reviews and I'm leaning more towards it, as I don't think I'll be needing a multifunction. The cheapest price for the PIXMA iP4000 is $155 at Canadacomputers, so is there any other place sell it for cheapter??
