I just got an email as a member of www.lastminutegolfer.com for cheap golf this monday. Here's the notice. They still have a few times left. I believe you can join LMG first, or there may be another way to register through www.mercygolf.com. Anyways, this is the site of the 2007 Bell CDN Open, and it normally costs alot (I believe at least $130 normally to play the course). This is a steal, but be aware that since the course is gonna be really busy, your round may take a lot longer than expected. Good luck in getting a time. I booked mine already!
Location: Markham, ON
These were the tee times left the time of posting:
11:21 am
11:30 am
11:39 am
11:48 am
11:57 am
1:27 pm
HERE'S THE EMAIL THAT WAS SENT TO ME:
SPECIAL NOTICE AND UPDATE FROM LASTMINUTEGOLFER
Dear___,
This coming Monday July 11th Angus Glen Golf Club will host the Mercy Ships Canada Guinness World Record Golf Event. The goal of this event is to break the world record for most walking golfers on a course in 24 hours, (currently 491 set in 2003 at St. Andrews in Scotland) and to raise funds and awareness for Mercy Ships newest hospital ship the African Mercy.
Tee times for this event are available on the LastMinuteGolfer website for $25.00, with the greens fee being considered as your donation to the Mercy Ships cause. (Please note that this includes your round of golf but does not include a golf cart..this record attempt is for most 'walking' golfers).
LastMinuteGolfer encourages you to book a tee time and play in this world record attempt by supporting this worthy cause. Help to make a difference, book your tee time today and play at Angus Glen on Monday to assist Mercy Ships. For more details about Mercy Ships please click HERE!
Best regards,
LMG

Answering your question, LMG deals aren't posted on the front site. There are normal deals if you book through the site that are decent. but if you join, then here is the procedure to book times.
1)login
2)click on 'book tee times' tab
3)click on 'red flag promotions' on the bottom left
As a basic member, it'll show you tee times 2 days in advance that you can book. Discounts range from course to course, but i've seen anywhere from 20%-50% off.
I'm driving all the way from hamilton to markham for this deal! But usually i don't book times on there. Some courses are too expensive for me (but they're amazing deals that all include cart), and most courses are too far. I just use it to track my handicap.

and yes, this deal was emailed to me. But i've been a member for 3 months and this is the only email i've ever received from them. so i woudln't expect them to have something like this that often.

Hi low deals,
I booked for 2 players on Monday already with LMG. It's indicate $25 per person. Also, I found on the website it quote all price are include Cart and tax. But the email you posted was saying Cart are not included. So, does it's mean include power cart with LMG booking or not?
Thanks a million for the post on this deal.

I don't think cart is available for this promotion. If I understood what I read on the website, this promotion is to try to have the largest number of WALKING golfers at one time with proceeds to charity. THey wanted big numbers so that is why the price is so cheap I believe and obviously if they want walking golfers, cart is not available. That is my take at least. I think that they normally quote with cart though

Nice post.
I received the same email. Talking to Merci Ships by, sounds like they'll be "hoping" for a bit more of a donation above $25. On the MS website, mentions $500 but my guess is they couldn't fill all the spots so needed to get help from lastminutegolfer.
Given the tee off times I saw available on lastminutegolfer, it seems that tee times are 9 minutes apart, which is normal. Don't see how we're gonna beat the record of 491 golfers, since with groups of four 9 minutes apart, it would take 18 hours! I wonder if tee times will actually be closer than 9 minutes. Also, I wonder if there will be a lot of rangers on the course hurrying play along, cause one slow groups will really kill any chance of breaking the record.
Oh well, it's only $25 for a course that's normally $170.

They probably will do a shotgun tournament with Texas scramble (ie. best ball).. especially if they want to beat that 491 record!

So here's the scoop, they basically want you to play as fast as possible and keep up with the group ahead of you.
They are really pushing for people to only use irons (but if you are a very good player and are very confident use you're driver). They will have spotters on the course, but if you hit it really bad into the rough, you won't be allowed to look for your ball, and will have to take a drop (stroke + distance). And they ask when you take a drop to really make sure you get it in play (you can imagine somebody trying to drive the ball and losing 5 balls which would really kill playing speed).
One of their suggestions is to lay up if you are outside of 100 yards and there's another group on the green.
Also, they have a contingency plan if they don't get 490 golfers, staff will play throughout the night with glow in the dark golf balls.
Sounds chaotic, but fun and it's only $25. But if you are all excited and thinking about trying to get an awesome score at angus glen, it's probably not gonna happen :) Also, i think they're gonna modify the tees because a round according to Guiness is 6000 yards or more, so all men/women/etc will have to play from the same tees.
