Hey guys, I was wondering if some of you guys could shed some of your advice on this situation.
Today GeoHoliday (http://www.geoholiday.com) called me up saying that my father had won some grand prize to a bunch of destinations (or something, I don't remember.). They had my dad's full name + our Mailing Address and when I asked when this contest was held, they said back in the Winter. My father doesn't speak english, and usually if I enter a contest that I think my dad could win, I enter it for him. Now I don't remember this one though. When I told the csr on the phone that my father didn't speak english, she was hesitant and saying that my father couldn't recieve the prize because of that (are they allowed to do this?).

So my questions are:
1)Is this a scam? Anyone have any relationships with GeoHoliday?
2)If it isn't a scam, could they really restrict my father from recieving the prize because of the language barrier?

If you have to pay even 1 cent, then it is a scam. If they offer you a prize without having you to pay or give any creditcard info, then it may be legit.

It might be one of those timeshare "scams". You get a cheap trip (you pay a few hundred $$) and in return you get a trip and accomedations (may or may not be as promised) and you have to sit through a day of high pressure sales to buy a timeshare.

Sounds like one of those sketchy deals.. I personally wouldn't even go for it.. but do as you wish.

"To claim your gifts, you and your spouse/partner must simply attend a minimum 90 minute NO OBLIGATION courteous vacation presentation together on or before the expiration date."

Oh yeah, and stop signing your dad up for contests.

hehe my sister went through something like this.
they said she won a contest for a trip to somewhere
now i dunno if its the same company and stuff, so dont take my story so likely, lol i wouldnt want you to lose a real trip cause of me.

anyways they had this stupid presentation about their company i think and destinations.
then later they brought us to another room with tables, and a seller would try to make you buy watever they're selling. time shares or watever it was.

it was so stupid, cause we just wanted the prize, so this dude is talkin and talkin. we're like, no its okay, we just want the prize. haha

sadly, in the end, there was a big raffle container kinda thing where you had to pick a winner for the prize.
my sister was looking inside and didnt see any winners.
so i dunno it was a waste of time

my own experience, but yours might be different

They wasted my time once..long time ago in high school. (My parents yelled at me after for wasting their time too by asking them to bring me)

Anyways, run away.
