Not too many theaters in the GTA with digital projectors (damn it..), but personally, I like the IMAX screen at the Famous Players:Paramount at John&Richmond downtown for movies..

Gotta wait for the true IMAX edition in November if you really want the best screen. But right now - any of the premier theatres like Colossus, Colliseum, or Paramount. I saw it in both regular and digital projection at Colossus and didn't notice any significant difference...

thx for the replies...

does anyone know if there is a 'widescreen' version out there? maybe what i mean is a different screen but i remember seeing 'crouching tiger, hidden dragon' at paramount and i swear the image seemed to have a 'wider' aspect ratio than 'normal' movies.....

the ep2 at colossus with digital projection was also definately more of a 4:3 aspect ratio.....

do i have this right?

4:3 is your TV SET!

surely the screen @ colossus did not resemble a giant TV set?

Lots of movies these days aren't even in 16:9... but 2.35:1 which is even wider. Star Wars Ep.III being one of them. And no way was it 4:3 unless it was horizontally compressed by accident.

well my bad .. not quite 4:3 but it was square-ish and certainly not 16:9!

so any more recommendations where to see this?

The only advantage of the Coliseum style theatres over Colossus/Paramount is the wedge shaped seating arrangement - you can get an aisle seat near the back that is close to the center for sound balance...

(Personally, I'm just happy we made it through the bad old days of the 80's/early 90's when they'd gotten rid of most of the grand old time theatres and replaced them with crappy mini mall theatres. We are in a new golden age of quality cinema presentation! Glory be!)
