Seriously, Blunt mentioned in another topic that the potential line up for Live8 is a poor showing compared to the other sites. If you were picking the line up - who would you have and why? (Also, let's not get into the political issues with regards to Bob Geldof and Live8 in general).

Personally I like some of the choices...I personally would have the following (obviously sticking to a mostly Canadian theme)
1. Bryan Adams - personally feel he is one our greatest musical exports.
2. Tragically Hip - all canadian
3. Billy Talent - big in the scene at the moment
4. Blue Rodeo - nice old Canadian talent
5. Neil Young - no explaination required
6. Shania Twain - need some eye candy (get the country girls to show up)
7. Finger Eleven - Great band.
8. Our Lady Peace - Internationally know...War Child.
9. David Usher - great song writer, is already involved internationally
10. GREEN DAY - The big Anti-American head liner...WOOO! My favorite band in the world!!

DAMN. Then Blunt is right. There line up is much better than ours...but anyways that point of the question was to pick whoever you want...doesn't matter if they are already playing somewhere else. THEY WILL DROP EVERYTHING - BECAUSE U SAID SO! lol

It would be nice to have Avril, Arcade Fire, Sum41, K-Os, Sarah Mc (playing Phily), 50Cent (he's in Toronto)AC/DC, Rolling Stones(in Toronto).
Still thinking..
Shawn Desmond... hahahahah kidding... :cheesygri

Looking at all of those names, wondering where Radiohead is?!
Arcade Fire should be playing Barrie, not to mention Billy Talent, K-OS, BEP etc.
I like Canadian rock, but this should be a showcase! Heck, throw in Matthew Dusk too.

But I guess because those bands are popular here, like Coldplay, Dido, U2..etc... But in the Germany one i haven't even heard of most of them.

Weird, Dido is on the list for both London and Paris. Guess she's taking a short flight over!

Here about the DJ in ottawa protesting the inclusion of Celine Dion from Las Vegas and the exclusion of Stompin Tom Connors by playing 3 hours straight of Stompin Tom!
Says he got fired for it.
Alanis just got her american citizenship, dont know if that'll affect her status.

Green Day aren't Anti-American, they are AMERICAN. They are against American Economic Fascism. Have we not learned anything from Hhitler?

wow, it looks like bjork has been added to the tokyo concert! i hope they broadcast her performance on ctv.

arcade fire
k-os
rufus wainwright
billy talent
feist
metric
avril lavigne
hawksley workman
michael buble
(add a couple of canadian urban artists in here, i'm not too well versed in the urban scene in canada, so can't name any myself, but they should be represented)

Bryan Adams (for the nostalgic factor)
Deep Purple
DobaCaracol featuring Kna'an
Gordon Lightfoot
Great Big Sea
Les Trois Accords
Sam Roberts
Tegan & Sara
The Tragically Hip

Tom Cochrane
CELINE DION!

Yeah, it's a piss-poor lineup if I ever saw one. Not one band I'm even remotely interested in seeing.
Broken Social Scene was awesome at the Olympic Island show yesterday, they should in that lineup.
