Do a group buy with someone who likes leather strap and non Roman numerals and then swap the bracelet.

Steel bracelets can pinch and get sweaty. I prefer the leather bands.
Bands are usually replacable ... could always buy the face you want, and put the band you want on it.
*edit*
Just had a look at the linked pics ... the steel one appears much more "dress" than the leather one. Choice would also depend on when you expect to wear it.

I definitely have a personal preference for the stainless steal. Something about the leather band just doesn't do it for me.
The silver is just so...shiny. :)

steel bracelets are apparently more trendy these days.
so, if you're buying a Tissot, you probably care about what's trendy, therefore the SS bracelet would be a better choice. ;)

stainless steel looks better, and will be more durable, but less comfortable.
Always buy a stainless steel version of a watch if the price isn't much different. You can always buy a leather band for about $20 after. You don't have to get the exact same leather band, but you should be able to find one similar.
On my Omega SpeedMaster Professional, the watch with stainless steel band costs $3700. Leather version of the watch is $3600. But what they don't tell you is that the steel band itself is something like $500 if you buy it afterwards.

Now now, don't judge people like that. Maybe he just likes the look of the watch over any others.

I like how the stainless steel looks more, it is also more durable. I persoanlly prefer titanium though. :)
If you dress suit/semi-formal, go stainless steel.
If you dress golfy-type or casual, go with leather.

What do you mean switch? Buy the SS version, and swap it out for the leather band later.

Trust me, I have owned steel wristbands swatches since I was 16. They are worth the money even if they are more expensive than leather bands. The steel one will resist all sorts of weather whereas the leather one will erode eventually with sweat and weather related events. They are also stronger, if you get into fights or play lots of sports, the steel one is your choice. Anyhow steel wristbands is more classy

the leather strap, in my opinion is good to have in your collection but if u're going for an all-occassion type of watch, the stainless steel is more clean and presentable in every occasion.
the leather strap gives the image that ur taste/attitude/character will always remain the same, never changing, the classic. not that this is a bad thing, but i can always imagine men (old) with beards or they'll eventually decide to have beards...yes yes, the philosopher image!

i dont want leather. the only reason why im considering the one on the left, is because of hte face with roman numerals. :cheesygri
but i dont think i can put a SS on that face. can i?

I understand now.
Buying the Tissot stainless steel strap is going to be very expensive. You could always order it afterwards, but it wouldn't be worth it for sure.
You *can* get aftermarket steel straps, but they will run you say $30-$80 or more depending on the quality.

alright thank you guys and all.
will probably go for hte SS since the leather is a hassle, i'll just sacrifice roman numerals.
btw for those interested, here's the cheapest price i found for it, if you plan on picking one up for yourself. $126usd

A basic $30 Timex Indiglo tells time just as well as a Rollex. :)
I used to buy dollar store watches, and buy new ones when the batteries wore out. Now that's the RFD spirit

I like the face without roman numerals. It looks so much cleaner and contemporary. The roman numerals just make the face look crowded.

Both watches are defective. The year is stuck on both at 1800s. Not worth a red penny IMO.
