hi

im looking to buy a laptop for school....so basically all it will be used for is to do research on the net, and type up notes, essays and such. THAT IS ALL.

my only requirement is that it is an IBM Thinkpad (im really rough with my stuff and its gonna get thrown into my school bag, so I like the sorta rubbery feel they have, it looks like it can take a small beating) and that it has wireless capabilites (either built in or that I can add a card)

I know tiger direct sells some refurbished ibm thinkpads they have one its a p3 900 for like 600 but i would have to add more $ for the wireless card

so any advice would be great

thanks.

NCIX has been putting refurb Thinkpads on their weekly sales recently usually. Might want to check it out tomorrow. And there's the BST forum of course...

That's a bit on the slow side imho. You'll have to upgrade the RAM for sure. I'd look for something a little better.

I don't think that's slow. 900MHz is fast enough. I'd bump up the RAM as much as I can though. I have a gig of ram in my notebook and it still accesses the HDD a lot. (Well, that's digital photography for ya).
