Sorry, reallllllly new at this stuff..But how would i backup my computer on dvd-r's?..Like what program would allow me to do that?...

Depends on what you want to do. Do you want to burn just a few selected files (all your images or something)? Or do you want a complete 100% backup that can be restored from scratch without having to reinstall any software (harder, and would take dozens to hundreds of blank DVDs)?
What software came with your DVD burner? Most software has some sort of backup option.

Norton ghost is popular for making an image of your harddrive that in the event of a serious problem, you can just format and copy back onto your harddrive and it'll be back to normal (as of the point at which you did the backup, losing anything from after then).

I'll second Norton Ghost, I've used it for that sort of thing before...
Though like I said, if you've got 80GB of stuff on your computer, that's 17 DVDs and HOURS of swapping DVDs. Not fun :(
I'd rather spend a bit of cash and get a second hard drive and mirror them! :)

Question: so lets say if your required 17 DVD's, if one of those dvd's is "broken" or corrupt...are you screwed?
