This isn't a hot deal topic, but I didn't really know where to put this thread.

Am I going to get a better deal for a 19" LCD than the BenQ FP937-D for 370+tax ($430-$60coupons)? Is this even a good monitor?

Should I pounce on this or wait for a better sale sometime down the road?

I have an FP931, which I bought last year at Staples, similar, except 16rms vs. 12rms on the FP937...I've had no problems. (I paid $569 a year ago!)

Also, is video card a problem? This monitor apparently has a DVI connection or whatever. I am under the impression this is a good thing. But does my video card have this capability? It's a few years old. Or does the VC even matter? Is there a way I can tell if my comp/vc can handle this monitor?

Nvidia GeForce4 MX420 64MB.

Sorry that I'm so clueless.

I understand your qualm. I have the same problem when I make posts. I've tried starting a couple topics but never get any replies. The forums here kinda suck except for the Hot Deals, IMO. At least posting in Hot Deals forum, ppl will reply you, even if it's posts saying "you're stupid, wrong forum you n00b" :) good luck with your monitor, I think it's a fair deal. BenQ makes some good LCDs. I would also consider the new Samsung's if you're gaming.

RE: DVI ... you can get an adapter, so no problem. Yes, it is a good thing especially if you upgrade your video card in the future. Better video quality.

DVI is a nice bonus, according to my 'geek' friend, but not absolutely necessary...my monitor didn't come with the cord, and I don't really need it anyway!

p.s., I am NOT a gamer, so I don't really need quick response per se.

yeah, pretty much since there are no rebates for it right now and Staples has the best price on it especially after coupons. There were other threads on this earlier .. http://forums.redflagdeals.com/showthread.php?t=166844

Oh, and wrong forum. Should belong in Hardware & Software.

I recently bought this exact monitor and have absolutely no regrets. For $370 + tax I'd jump on it. I think I paid about $425 after rebates and everything. Also, it supports both a DVI and VGA connection, so even if your video card doesn't have DVI, there's no worries; it comes with both cables.

Is there BenQ mail-in rebate available?

You may want to take a look at the Samsung 930B 8ms DVI monitor.

Posting in the wrong forum should be discouraged and stopped. Rules are there to follow, not to bend or break. If RFD does not answer your questions, there are other places which will.

Why do we have different forums on RFD if every off-topic subjects are posted under "Hot Deals"? Just because it is popular? I certainly don't like to read through pages of business news in the sport section, would you?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think posting in the wrong forum should be ignored, warned, moved, and/or locked.

Enough of my rants. I just want RFD to become better and I hope I didn't offend anyone.

just wondering if you could you use the coupon code 50928 that takes $30 off purchases of $200 or more.... ?? then this would be a real deal for your bucks!

yes, you can use both $30 off 200 bucks (50928 and 51208), so it comes to 369 + tax.

I'm looking at the 937 that I bought last week. It's connected to an ATI AIW 9600Pro which doesn't have DVI. So far so good. It is a "bright" monitor and I notice the colour saturation is not a deep as my older 19" Trinitron but that seems the norm. The Samsung has better colour but it's hard to argue with the Benq's price. If the Samsung had an active warranty I would have bought it. Still, I'm not unhappy with the Benq and will keep it.

How do I find out if my card supports dvi? Can I look at the back of the computer for something inparticular?

Also, would I need a dvi to vga adapter? How much do they cost?

Sorry, I just really want to know what I'm getting before I shell out $400+.

you just use the VGA cable if your card does not have DVI. No point in using a DVI to VGA converter.

Look on the back, you should be able to tell right away. It will be a white port, wider than the standard VGA port, on the video card.
If you want to know what the port looks like, just google up BFG 6600GT or XFX 6600GT. both those have DVI only.

Ugh. Just went to buy it on the website and it shows OOS once again. It'll probably be weeks before it shows in stock again. Should have gotten it last night.
