Whats the quickest way to take a screenshot, and save it as a jpeg file on your desktop?.

I know theres the whole "Print Screen, Open Paint, Paste, Save to Desktop"..but like I'm talking about any powertoys or programs which will allow you to do that.....Hotkeys would be cool

There was a freeware program a while back I had called "Snag-It". It allowed you to take a picture of whatever was open on your desktop including layered windows, etc.

I had an old program on my old PC...but it had to be launched, can't remember the name either.

I find print screen method quick...get object dock or a hotkey for paint.
Paste it and save.
:)

Yeah... if I recall correctly, Snag-It allowed a quick launch or hot-key macro or something that made it super easy.. I think it even had a photo editor and a way to record screen shots privately in case you suspected someone was using your computer looking for naughty stuff... :)

Sweet, might get it after HD clean up.
BTW, how many MB's do the screenshots turn out to be...
for me, its 3MB  (using prt sc)

Not sure.. it was an old program (5+ years ago)... but the program itself fit onto a floppy (3.5") disk.. Is it still available? Try download.com?

Although it isn't the quickest way, I do the following:
1) PRINT SCREEN
2) PASTE in MS WORD
3) DRAG to desktop

Works well for me because I always have MS WORD open. Hope that helps.
