Is it just plug and play or do you have to load all this software and reset config's?

I believe you need a special cable. USB ends, with some sort of device in the middle.

You need a special cable and software.
Easier solution would be cross over cat5 cable and NO SOFTWARE.

Routers/hubs/switches can be found for a good price on RFD so that's what I use to network my computers.

DONT TRY TO USE A REGULAR USB CABLE TO CONNECT BOTH PC'S. You will screw up the computer.
