Just spotted this on Futureshop.ca - WEB ONLY.
This is only 802.11b, but I guess it's an okay deal for those who don't mind dealing with MIR's. Thought I'd post it incase someone's interested.

Good starter kit. Prices are definitely getting cheaper as 802.11b equipment is being replaced by the faster and more secure 802.11g standard.
NOTE:
Pre-Order: Estimated Release Date:June 15, 2005

It says that the TEW-431BRP Router is included in the box.
But that's actually the G model: http://www.trendnet.com/products/TEW-431BRP.htm
Think it's a misprint, or is there a G model in the package?

B model is pretty bad nowadays
My cordless phone is running at 2.4GHz, whenever the phone rings, the internet goes down, according to my friend's exp. Any comment??
If this is in fact a G model, I would jump on it.

Your cordless phone must have a mile long antenna if it were to operate at 2.4 kHz.
802.11g operates at the same frequency as 802.11b, 2.4 GHz. (oops :D)
The PC Card seems to use the Realtek 8180 chipset... Same as the Netgear MA521... Which means no WPA support... Is there new firmware that will support WPA?
But $20 for a PC card.... Maybe I should try it for a month first. :D

The offer date for the MIR is from June 10 to June 12. June 11 and June 12 are weekend so the order may not be processed until June 13. Also the Kit won't be available until at least after June 15. So the MIR sounds like a scam to me.

Pretty easy to return though if they dun process order in time.
Just dump off stuff at your nearest Futureshop store to get back your credit.
As for MIR it took a few months to receive my Trendnet rebate on another product.

I have a Trendnet 802.11g router and a wireless 2.4GHz phone side by side, and there doesn't seem to be any interference. The Trendnet also lets you choose between 11 different channels. I've heard that if your phone is interfering with your 802.11g network, changing the channel by 4 or more steps usually fixes this.

wow... that's like the cheapest kit i've seen in a while (other than maybe kits selling on TD  )
rebate is a killer ~$50 tho... altho i've received like ~90% of rebates processed thru FS/BB, i'd still hate to risk $50....

did not notice that, got the wrong rebate form,
anybody has the correct one?
LessON:
1. save the form when finishing the order
2. check the rebate form before sending it out!!!
