Felix, tell your friend the shelter isn't the best place to put them. Most shelters kill animals when they need room. She should take responsibility for the kittens if she chooses to have them, whether they were wanted or not. Time to spay/neuter the mommy I think.

Actually, kittens/puppies have quite a high adoption rate compared to older animals .. especially if they are cute! I'm sure the sender of the email should be aware already .. since she is a vet school student at Guelph University also. :)

Yeah kittens do have a high adoption rate, but a shelter may "remove" an older animal that is less likely to get adopted to make room for the new kittens/puppies ... Shelters put down A LOT of animals, it may shock you how many they put down on a regular basis. Good thing no-kill shelters are popping up. Sorry for threadcrapping, people just aren't aware how many animals are abandoned and put down every week.
But those kittens are really cute. :)

Hmm..my mom might want one
Stupid question, but when these grow up, do they remain the same color? or grow darker?

No, not if they are properly trained. You'll need to buy enough toys and a scratching post for them so they don't claw on your furniture/drapes. Same goes for jumping onto counter tops and other areas you don't want them to go near. If they do, yell at them and spray water (cats hate that), or some other deterrent methods to keep them away. You'll notice they love sitting by the window too, cats are very curious animals.
When they grow up they will be less active, and will lie around the house all day (cats are lazy). :D

They remain more or less the same color and keep their coat patterns. But yeah, some lighter fur may become a little darker, yes. But you probably won't notice since you watch them everyday as they grow up. They also shed fur more when they get older.
Sorry for the late response. Almost forgot about this thread ..
