You will need a player that specifically support SACD.

My first hit from a google search:

If the SACD disc supports 2 channel cd mode then yes, some SACD's do play in cd players, BUT your not getting super audio quality, rather your just getting the standard defination sound that you would get from a regular cd.

VERY VERY few CD players can play super audio.

I made the decision a while ago to get DVDs
with 5.1- that way you have video AND fine sound

There aren't even hardly any super audio CDs available.

PLUS they're WAY overpriced- just one more RIAA RIPOFF

correction. Not all SACD's have regular CD information on them, before i got my sacd player i bought up a bunch of SACD that did work as a regular Cd's as well, and they played fine. When i got my SACD player I herd the difference.. Besides that, DVD audio does play in your dvd player, but unless your dvd player is DVD-Audio compatable your again, not going to experience the full resolution of sound.

And there are a TON of SACD's out there, it all depends on what you listen to.

Yeh sure

Ask 99 out of 100 people and they won't even know what super audio is.
The only reason I do is because I've been an audiophile for a long, long time.
I've still got about 100 Discrete LPs (four channel records)
left over from that first attempt at surround sound.

There are all kinds of 5.1 DVDs out there esp. concerts

No contest, DVDs are the way to go.
