I bought the Microsoft Fingerprint + Mouse Combo at Staples Online, they charged me Regular price of course, i submitted Price Match online against Futureshop, then they replied

Staples is currently selling this item for $79.95. If you like, I can
adjust your order to match the current Staples price at 100%. I am
sorry, but I will not be able to match the Future Shop price at 150%.

Please email me back if you would like me to credit your order to match
teh Staples price.

Thank you for shopping with us,

That's BS!

Show us a lower advertised price on a new identical item from an authorized dealer (list provided below) now or within 14 days of your purchase. We’ll match it PLUS give you 50% of the difference as a credit toward your purchase. (Maximum credit: $50). So, if you were to find an item priced at our store for $100 but $50 somewhere else, we would match the $50 price. PLUS, you would receive $25 towards your purchase.
Emphasis added.

I am sorry, but we are only able to match the current Staples price on
this item, because the Staples price is now lower than the competitors.

That would mean that even if you accept the 100% PM, you would still be paying more than at the competitors'. Or am I missing something ?

they are $0.05 ( 5 cents lower than Futureshop ), they are going to match the price against Futureshop, there is no 150%

why do they still have 150% when they don't follow the policy?

Whats the big deal? You obviously didn't know about the FS price beforehand, or else you would have pricematched then. Therefore you thought the price you paid was fair for what you bought.

A few days go by, FS and staples both lower their prices and now all of a sudden you want to get extra money off?

I think that is a little unfair of you. They are more than happy to adjust your price to their new (lower than FS) price, why don't you just take it?

There is a time to make a fuss and a time to be fair. This is obviously the latter

Get the pricematch first, before you submit the order because once staples has lowered their price and you don't have a pricematch e-mail that's it.

It sounds like they are claiming their price match policy (for 150% matching) is always based on "current pricing". By the time you notified them of the lower Future Shop price, their own price was lower. Therefore, there is no "price match" against their current price - as it is lower (they indicated there price is lower at 79.99?). Therefore, they will match their own "new" price - but there is no price match opportunity with Future Shop.

It actually does sound like it is legit if that is how their price match policy "works". I doubt there is a section specifically documenting this scenerio... so it might leave the door open for incorrect interpretations (well... interpretations that seem correct to customers - but aren't according to their understanding of the policy specifics).

according to that :arrowu:, u should've recv'd 150% of the diff. back to ur CC.

no where in their stooples policy does it say "what will happen if we lower our own price to match the competitor's price" ...

so their PM policy is kinda "vague", if u will, ... thus it kinda lets stooples "weasel" out of these PM requests....

u can try to argue with their PM policy, but i doubt they'll do anything about it....

his executive assistant probably manages his inbox and your email will probably get forwarded to another department (customer service) before Steve can read it. So it might be quicker to email customer service directly :)

when you requested the PM, had staples lowered their price yet?

That's the difference to me...if he requested the PM when staples was still at it's regular price, then he should get the 150% PM.

If staples has already lowered the price, then it's a 100% PM.

I purchased this at Future Shop first so I wouldn't have to deal with the OOS issue. I sent a PM email and faxed a copy of my receipt and they didn't send me a response back! What kind of crap is that? I email back yesterday asking "where is my PM" and they said, quote:

We appreciate your inquiry concerning this issue,

I am sorry but we have not received any email under email address
*******@sympatico.ca on May 27. If you used a different email
address please reply back with that email address.

We appreciate your patience concerning this matter,

WTF? I'm going to wait now to see if the price goes back up after the sale so I can try a PM again.
