I own a Canon A75 camera and have a quick question for other A75 owners. I haven't used my camera in a while but I remeber that if I put it into either Av or Tv mode that hwen you adjusted the settings for aperture or shutter speed that it would give you a real time result on the LCD. But now it seems that it doesn't, I can only tell how the settings I use will look once I take the image, so no matter what I do to the settings in either Av or Tv mode it won't effect what I see on the LCD before actually taking the photo. It's only once I log into full manual mode that I get a real time update of what my photos will look like.

Like I said I haven't use the camera in a while but I remeber that when being in either Av or Tv mode would give you real time results, I think, maybe I was just in fullm anual all the time.

Can any other A75 owners confirm this for me. Thanks.

I don't have a Canon A75, but I'm guessing that if you press the shutter button half way, it will preview it on the screen for you.

But in all honesty, I didn't find Av mode very useful on consumer point & shoots. There is literally no effect on the depth of field, as their focal lengths are so very short.

I would suggest RTFM. (Not to be rude) :D

Not to be rude on my part by that post was of no help to me. I just posted on here to ask a quick question as I know there are a lot of A75 and A series owners in general. So I figured that I could get another A75 owner to help me out.

By the way, I did read them anual pages 75 and 76 which is where the Av and Tv modes are talked about and it doesn't mention if there is a real time update on the LCD when changing settings, at lest from what I read.

So my question still stands to Canon A75 or A series owners in general, when changing the settings in Av or Tv mode, does it update real time on the LCD llike when in full manual mode or not.

yea, it doesn't give you real time results for lower shuttle speeds
it does it for M, Av, and Tv modes

I don't know what you're doing wrong, next time try it in a dark environment

also, the Av mode is useful because you can set some settings that are locked in Auto (ie white balance, ISO, etc)

It was helpful in the fact that no one with an A75 replied and you did not previously mentioned that you read the manual. The natural course of action from that would be to recommned reading the manual. :)
