Well with 4 months off school I want to start reading again and Im not sure exactly where to start so maybe a list here could help.

Post about one or even more books you absolutely love.

My favourite is "Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse. Ive read it many times. It is a very simple story but I learn from it everytime.

Germinal by Emile Zola

About the plight of mine workers in the industrial revolution in 19th Century France.

Originally penned in French, but English translation read is also good.

hefty read at 400+ pages.

Also Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot.

About two gentlemen who are waiting for someone for Godot, but get lost in the wait and eventually do not know why they are waiting for Godot, but wait for him for the sake of waiting. Literary analogy for waiting for God, ie, waiting for your death that will eventually come.

(That's my interpretation of it.)

The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe.
Last actual novel I read was Lord of the Flies, back in february. Then I read a non-english novel called Romeo and Juliet (sure sucked !), before that it was To Kill a Mocking Bird, in April 2004.

The Narnia Series is quite good.

Depends on if you like fiction, non-fiction, history, science, sci-fi etc etc:

War Of The Rats (WWII fiction, this book was the base for "Enemy At The Gates")
Dragonlance Chronicles (3 book science fiction, really easy to read)
Fabric Of The Cosmos (Brian Greene's new book about super string theory)
Hannibal (Obviously the book before the movie, the book is WAAAAAAY better than the movie with a completely suprising and different end)

Thats just a few off the top of my head.

I liked Angels and Demons much better than the Da Vinci Code. I'm not sure why people like DVC better. The stuff in A&D really blew me away, but I didn't find that to be the case with DVC. I found A&D to be much more exciting, and also had was good at exploring a debate between science and religion.

How is Life of Pi? I've seen alot of people reading it... but all of them have been chicks, lol. So not sure if it is right for me. :D

I've been reading a lot lately, since the bus is so boring:
- All of Dan Brown's books
- The Narrows by Michael Connely
- The Accidental Asian by Eric Liu (wasn't very good btw)

just a thought, for those who wish to consider taking up some your recommendations, it might be a good idea to tell us what the book is about as well. It would be nice to find out what iit s about here rather than having to search through google to find out one book at a time.

STEVEN ERIKSON.. WORST WRITER EVER!!!!.. well, I shouldnt say that, but talk about a lack of creativity! He has a very poor naming convention. Just 2 random words for the dictionary stuck together. i read about 100 pages of a book of his and wanted to throw up.

If you like Fantasy, then you have to read anything by:

DAVID GEMMELL
-Sword in the storm
-Legend
-Waylander
Anything.. they are all amazing. Have yet to meet a person who has read it and not liked it.

It took a bit to get into (although I started on book 3 or 4) but he has imo one of the best worlds, history, characters dieties and magic system.

The book is for all ages and very easy to undertand. I liked it alot. It's story about a kids survival by asserting dominance and prestige over other animals.

It just came to me that you might be referring to the soldiers (ie, Bridgeburners) who have names like Whiskeyjack, Onearm, Quick Ben, Trotts, Fiddler, etc. For the most part those aren't their names, they're nicknames often given by drill sgts. when in training; Quick Ben is really 'Ben Adaephon Delat'.
