I thought I would start a new official thread for the RFD Guild Wars Guild. Below is a list of the current RFD GW members and I will do my best to keep this list up to date. (Otherwise press G once you are in the game to see the list of current Guild Members and also to see who is online)

I also thought it would be good to have a thread where we can:

Lastly, we can also use this thread as a mini BST Guild Wars forum so if someone wants to buy/trade for a particular weapon, armor, dye, etc...might as well buy it off a guild member instead of a complete stranger ;)

The Sword Pommel is an upgrade (suffix) to a sword, not a sword itself. :-)

Anyways, you might be able to sell that for quite a bit to someone, and get yourself something mid 25-29 for cheaper (profit! and a tad less hp)

In terms of gameplay it isn't 1000% better than wow. But for $40-$50 bucks one time fee, it is damn good for it's value. It is certainly 1000X better for your wallet than wow.

I have a sorta OT question here but some of you probably did get your copy from the FS sale online so I thought you guys can clear this question for me.

A friend of mine kept bugging me to get this game and I did during the FS sale but they were out of stock so I "still" haven't gotten my copy yet.(it's on the way finally though.) So I thought maybe do the Amazon PM today but found out they changed price also but went to the store anyway to get a copy and wondering if I can just return the one I just bought from store at reg. price and use the receipt to get fund for the one that's coming to me since it is the same thing and would be unopen...just want to get my hand on a copy sooner that's all. So does the one you guys got from onlie has price sticker on it?(I'm guessing now...) Obviously the box is sealed with tape right?(and with security plastic sticker thingie inside of the lid?) So would that alone good enough for me to fool them? :) Thanks in advance.

As long as you return a sealed copy it shouldn't be a problem since the UPC code is the same. I was planning on doing the same thing but luckily for me they allowed the PM at the Scarborough store on Kennedy when I went last Monday.

My name in GW is 'Feelix the Cat' incase anyone wants to quest or something. I'm a 14 Necro/Ele and I'm at Frost Gate now. Getting harder to make decent groups to do the missions now... either that or we really suck and the missions are just getting harder haha.

As I said in the other thread, I can't join the guild at the moment. I've got two close friends in another guild (just the 3 of us) and since I got them into the game, I don't want to abandon them. They're also semi-antisocial since they're still learning the ropes. Maybe soon I'll get the three of us in the RFD guild as long as you guys don't mind two tag-alongs.

Don't have the courthouse or Yak's Bend on my map...how do you get those?

Yak's bend you get to by doing the missions or by walking there the long way from Courthouse. It's the first town out of the searcing Ascalon area (in the snowy mountains). The courthouse is a long trek from Piken's Square. Best to check a map.

alrite i got this really annoying prob i hope some RANGERS can help me out. i have the panther pet and it was really cool at first then i got bored of it and it kept dieing so i left it there.....anyhoo now i cant resurrect him cuz the spell says its out of range. it doesnt come back to me when i go to towns etc. and i have no idea how to get it back!!! i want a diff kind of pet but u can only have one at a time. any help would be great!!!

Go to the Tamer near Ranger Nente (if you are still in pre searing) and see if you can give him away and then go charm a new one :)

go get some proper heal spells so you can last longer, that vampire gaze sucks for healing. Necro skills can do much better.

LOL You're not suppose to go there until you have ascended.. meaning you are level 20 with fully infused armor.. (past dragon's lair)

if you do be prepared to spend 3+ hours trying to make it, or most likely giving up. I cleared snake dance at lvl 20 with 7 lvl 20 hench in couple hours. and that's just one map. but then again, i was there trying to capture elite skills not ran to the next map.

you can get thru the door by doing forward strafing. doesn't always work, i had one group member can't get thru, so we ended up open the door and finished the quest. wasn't too difficult, just need to take it slow and fight one group at a time.

So...it looks like I've been approaching my Ranger/Ne strategies all wrong after reading a few guides on the net. Looks like I should be focusing more on my Ranger skills and carry 1 or 2 Necro skills instead of the other way around.

Any other rangers out there have some good recommendations on what kind of skill set I should be using?

yes you can. you will get a quest for signet of capture when you get to lion's arch.

elite skills in the game can only be obtained by capturing, u can't buy them or get them from doing quests. elites skills are not available for capturing until later in the game when you get to crystal desert and beyond.

I'm at the tempo, past lion's arch.. went to do a mission its a long hard hard one.. where your entire team dies in the mer 5 mins. and there like 8 people in the party.. picking ramdom people off of guildwars towns.. there are alot of idiots there... seem to be pretty stuipd.. I'd was so close a long long trek to that mission to beat the wizard at the wizards castle, got the quest from lion's arch.. anyways only a few more waves of enemys to fight off one of the idiots runs back and goes to town I'm going hey what you doing! spent an hour getting there.. fight all thouses tough guys.. now need some mature dependable people to do that quest.. everything there is like super hard to even fight through.. I'm a warrior/ranger class. it is very hard to get past.

just to let everyone know that if the rfd guild is full I have spots opened on my guild. read somewhere max guild members are like 100.. do the rfd guild that high in # of members??? just wonder.

Try Abaddon's Mission.. that was by far the toughest mission ever.. Not in terms of difficult but in terms of time consumption.. 2 bosses to kill (MO and ME) and they were impossible to kill.. 3 warriors and casters targeting the MO but he would not lose more than 1/3 of his HP.. everytime his HP bar gets to 1/3, he heals back to full life.. 20 minutes of attacking and still didnt' die.. we all just quit :[

Don't have 100 members...at least yet...the most up to date list is on the first page.

Im using a ranger myself. Get ignite arrow and dual shot. Together, it's a deadly combo especially when attacking groups. The ignite arrow damages enemies that are next to your target enemy.

I was thinking of using that combination but found that it gets interrupted a lot now at where I am...

Basically, from all the guides and forums I've read, the Ranger is best used to do the following:

-Call targets
-Pull targets away or draw them in
-Act as long range damage support
-And most importantly to interupt and ANNOY the other team/foes casters using skills like Pin Down, Distracting Shot, Hunter's Shot and then skills from either a Mesmer or Necro secondary class such as Conjure Phantasm or Faintheartedness


I've now re-jigged by skill build to the following:

Try Abaddon's Mission.. that was by far the toughest mission ever.. Not in terms of difficult but in terms of time consumption.. 2 bosses to kill (MO and ME) and they were impossible to kill.. 3 warriors and casters targeting the MO but he would not lose more than 1/3 of his HP.. everytime his HP bar gets to 1/3, he heals back to full life.. 20 minutes of attacking and still didnt' die.. we all just quit :[

It was insanely easy for us.. just go slow.

This brings up another point of note that I have found while doing these later missions...instant damage type spells/attacks seem to be useless against these self-healing type of bosses.

I'm starting to dump all these types of skills in favour of damage over time/hex/curses spells...throw a couple of these on a boss while your warrior tanks are wailing away and they will go down much quicker...

Anyone know exactly how the runes work? I added a Minor rune of Marksmanship to my ranger's bow and at first it seemed like it did nothing. But while using one of my skills all of a sudden I noticed when I went into my Hero menu that my Marksmanship was modified +1...even when I switched to a bow that did not have the rune.

When it says Marksmanship +1 (10% chance while using skills) does this mean that there is a 10% chance to gain a permanent +1 to Marksmanship?

Apply Poison is a preparation. Poison Arrow is a bow attack, also an elite skill.

Apply Poison takes like 15 energy and lasts 24 (I think) seconds. Poison arrow is 5 energy and 1 shot.

Yeah.. it's about 5000 gold for $1 US. I sell about 1000 plat worth of stuff a day though, :-).

yes, you use expert salvage, it's not 100% though but success rate is fairly high, 75% I read somewhere. This number should be accurate, I've got like 6-7 runes out of 10 or something like that.

ascension is a set of missions in the desert, once you are done, you will become lvl 20, although some people will already be lvl 20 when you are done, so doesn't make a difference to those people. after that there are 2 quests to get your remaining 30 attribute points, one in the desert, one at the drognar forge.

after that there is probably another 6-7 missions. it just means you don't level up anymore. it's possible if you have bunch of lvl 20s run you all the way from ascalon to the desert, help you ascend to lvl 20, beat the missions, so i guess 20 hours is doable. but for me, it's gonna be over 100hrs. there is a command to check how much time you spend in the game, /age or /ages.

my 2nd account has been rushed all the way to past lion's arch, took me about 15 hours. I wasn't rushed by level 20s, lot's time spent looking for parties and repeating few missions. If I had a group of level 20s, I should be able to get to lion's arch in 7 hours. (Doing primary mission non-stop and skipping cutscenes.

You have to have Ember Light Camp. With this tactic I gain about 20K XP and 6-7K g an hour.

What you do is that you sneak north alone (no henchies nor players, don't attack the hydras) when you get to the Lvl 24 Dark Flame Dryders you start killing them. At start they'll use a spell on you, but when you reach 50% health that spell won't be that effective, so they'll stop using it. If you have good enough armor, which you should have by now, their basic attack only takes one or none damage, so it doesn't matter if you only have 200 health. When you kill them you gain 168XP for each!!!, and they drop loot, always, and since you're alone you get all . Gold is droppe 1/3 time so if you kill 3 of them you probably get about 100-120g, probably a Dark Flame Fang (since this drops the other third of the time) and some other things you might sell for 60g, 1/10-20 of the time they drop colored items. They also drop alot of bows and swords.

If you dont believe me, try it, or if you have a better way of earning Skill Points and Cash at the same time, please tell me."

wow, you spent more time than me in gs, and you still haven't beat the game yet? it's in the mine right before you pwn Markis to the ground. And he is much easier than Glint you defeated the other day.

you can't, everyone in your account are automatically enrolled in the same guild

Yes, you can leave your current guild at any time...just press "G" while in game and I believe you can choose to leave from the menu...I know some of the other current members left their previous guild to join ours :)

Yeah, it would be nice to have some characters in one guild and some in another just for variety...

The total list is in the first post of this thread...about 27 or 28 I believe. Yes, a few of the other members here are officers...if you are online a lot I can make you an officer...

50k is good offer for this axe. the +14% dmg always is nice, but you have -10armor when attacking, so that means you will take more damage (% various depend on your armor level). it's not quite perfect, so if u planning to sell, i'd say take the 50k.

With a team of rangers with healing springs, we won't even need actual monks, well maybe for resurrection.

yeah, air have some good spells. my w/e have 5 in air just for gale, very good range knockdown to interrupt and stop running.

LOL, I just read that there is a Korean team of 8 monks out there that is catching everyone off guard...5 monks using bane signet and other smiting skills while the other 3 heal. That would be very tough to beat without any Mesmers to drain their energy...

I'm fairly certain I ran into this group, if not, one very similar to it. They were brutual. We lost in seconds and I'm sure they all had full health. They ended our winning streak. :)

People have mentioned playing some PvP, but there is no mention of anyone doing it. I'm interested. I don't know many people that play GW and I tried to make a group of 8 but it's hard to co-ordinate and people leave all the time.

BTW, when you guys play together, do you use some sort of voice software?

this game is all about pvp. if you don't like pvp, that's okay too. you already got 1-2 month of playing time out of it, not bad for any game. there will be a free update with 2 new areas later in the Summer for pve, but for real expansion, you will have to wait till next year.

If you're bored of it, why are you planning on playing it after exams? With so many games out there, you'd think you'd play the ones you enjoy.

Like nuropa said, it's actually a PvP game primarily. That's why I asked earlier if the RFD guild has done any guild combats. I tried to recruit people online, but it never works out. Many bail too soon, plus, it's very uncoordinated.

I hope they come out with an expansion soon for it, but I have to say that there is still some replay valure if you play the game again with a different primary profession. There is a big difference in strategy between playing the game as a W/Mo vs. a R/Me or Me/Mo.

I'm replaying the game as a Monk now and I have to say that I've gained an new appreciation for those who are good at playing Monks. Not as easy as it looks keeping an eye on 8 players' health bars and ailments while still trying to add some damage of your own in ;)

after u reinstall the game, ur account, including all your characters and items, will be there because it's saved on the server. However, you will have to download every area all over again since that's saved on your computer.

They made a boatload of changes on Sept 7th. Read here (http://www.guildwars.com/news/gameupdates.html).

Keys can be dropped by creatures, or, can be bought at merchants. More trouble, but they guaranteed to drop at least a purple item.

Actually I never stepped down - I was automatically relegated to Officer status after a couple months of inactivity. But since I've been the only one back in the game recently I was given the Guild Leader status again ;)

they want more people to farm more so they can waste more time spending gold to invite new members.. if they want to join, you just charge them 100g.

not alot of people played it.. I've gotten bored of the first gw, and fractions is the same to me.. more like $40 to add 2 more charchters classes that I won't be using. for some reason my team of players that I'd ramdomly join quests,, the entire group is always ignorant, or just leave at the last min...

Nightfall is pretty interesting - you actually get to develop and give orders to your "heroes" (advanced henchies). Only played a little bit so far - and I still want to finish Factions before I really start to dig into Nightfall.

I've bought nitefall, because it was on sale.. and I don't think its gonan be thta cheap at the price.. $39.99 the first guildwars is $59.99 so.. I'd bought it and it is now sitting on shelf. i'm trying to finish off guildwars the first one.. got a few more quests to do. but it is hard.. because its hard to finish it with so little players around.. even worse becuase the stupid hentches die

Yeah, the first game is very hard to finish with just henchies. I had to join groups to finish it off and a few members here also helped out at the time.
