I love the IBM thinkpad key boards ... i know they are one of / if not the best keyboards out there for Laptops...

My question is why the heck is the Fn key in the bottom left hand corner rather than in between the Crtl and Alt key or between the Alt and space bar... I mean, its not used that often anyways.. at least not more than the CRTL key!

It is kind of annoying have to reach over for the crtl key.. i kno other laptops have it in between....

Actually the asus laptops have that too.
I don't get the idea behind it either. But since they still haven't switched the keys, I guess its not that big of a problem for people...

Guess it depends on the person's hand? I actually like it better with the Fn key to the far left and out of the way; it's more natural for me with the Ctrl key to the right of Fn. And cuz i'm bored I took pics!

Not a thinkpad keyboard obviously, but like thinkpad and asus, the Fn key is to the far left.

Hand naturally curled onto the Ctrl key:

Pinkie finger has to stretch out to reach Fn key:

If it bothers you that much, why don't you just swap the Fn and CTRL keys. Here is a utility that will do just that

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1560610,00.asp

You can also do this with a registry entry, but you have to know the scan code for the particular key

It's actually used a lot. At least if you do a lot of hardware testing. :)

id rather have the Fn key in btwn Ctrl and Alt

because i use it often for adjusting my screen brightness and changing wireless profiles

having to reach out the pinky so far is hard sometimes when having to hit keys far away too so both hands are needed to adjust screen brightness

I use Function (FN) key for adjusting backlight, and taking a print screen.

Here is a link to a program that IBM offers. This will also allow you to swap the CTRL and the Fn keys

Seems like a lot of people hate the position of the Fn key

They might loan you one while you work there, but they certainly never give them to anyone. Noone gets handed a free Thinkpad on the way in, if that's what you've been led to believe.

TP keyboards are awesome. with the trackpoint its almost more useable then my desktop keyboard and mouse.

i just want to know if its worth getting the Flexview screen and if a high resolution is useable on a 14" or if a 15" is better.
