If so, what and what would you trust from there. I am in the market for a 1gig SD card and dont want to pay $200, so I found this pawnshop that has one for $80. Would you trust it? I dont even think they would let you try it first, in the pawnshops that Ive visited so far their a buncha cheeseballs working there...thinking youre gonna run for it once you get a hold of the item in your hand.

nah, I wouldn't by computer electronics or computer parts from pawn shop. Maybe power tools or a some other electric tool that isn't too complicated.
would by a musical instrument, maybe a watch, a bike, but not computer parts.

I buy used DVDs at them all the time. No problems. If I wanted the card you want, I'd take in my camera and ask them to try it out first. All of the ones I've dealt with would have no trouble with that.
I'd stick with stuff that is easily verified to be working. If you have issues with buying potentially stolen stuff, you might want to stay clear of pawnshops - I rationalize it by knowing that I'm being above board and paying a fair price from a place that should be doing due dilligence on the legality of the merchandise. They have become better. Often they have a police list of recent stuff stolen and won't accept anything that comes in that may have been on the list.

1. Chances are pretty good that it's stolen.
2. Chances are pretty good that the pawn shop tested it before buying it.
3. Chances are that they will let you test it if you want to buy it.
If you don't mind where it came from, go for it. It's not like SD cards are prone to failure.

Years ago I bargained down a Sony Discman w/headphones, car adapter, batteries and was able to pick music cd wanted all for $35. I would mainly go to add to my music cd collection but the advent of mp3's changed all that. I agree with everyone above though about staying away when buying computer parts.

There's a few in downtown. A couple of them by Henry's. Don't remember the street name
