Article in a weekly paper isn't online. Former manager of Kingston Futureshop just plead guilty to fraud involing $135,000 after noticing a book keeping glitch that allowed him first to put through sales that didn't really happen to increase his performance bonus and then to outright steal money, some of it by taking merchandise and then ringing through returns through 47 transactions over 7 months. Another staffer saw him use a FS giftcard which employees aren't allowed to use and told. Hasn't been sentenced yet. He had been regarded as a "star" as sales were so good.

They'll probably take out their PM guarantee now to make up for the lost money ;)

FS is BS
a firend bought speakers,
opened the box and the speaker was damaged.
they sold him a return, ( case had a big red "R" circled on it ) and all the packaging material was in pieces!
So back to the store he went to get the exchange. Some other sucker will probally get the return.
I cant stand FS. What a waste.

Lots of companies put returns back on the shelf (Walmart for one). At least futuresshop puts a big red R on theirs..
On topic, lots of companies have people that steal, at least they caught the guy..

I returned a PS2 controller to FS that didn't work and I saw them put it on the discount table a week later. The controller doesn't respond to any of the buttons pressed. The price was the same as a new controller too, so I hope no one bought it.

employees aren't allowed to use GC's? Are you serious? Is this for FutureShop only? Because a lot of them have asked me where I got those GC's from ..

As the consumer you have to be vigilant. I have seen items at Home Depot and Crappy Tire where a customer has purchased a door lockset or a tap and packed their original old tap or lockset in the new package and returned the item to the store for a refund.
I can NOT believe how dense the staff on the Customer Service Desk must be that they couldn't see the old rusty or broken item that the customer is trying to return for a refund.

True, he's going to be fired soon/now.
Every time they change management they swap most of the staff as well with the part timers/seasonals.
