I get all this junk fax. Some have a # to call to be removed, some don't. I wonder if I call the "remove" #, is it a trick? Will that actually confirm your fax # to these guys or will they actually stop faxing me??
Any experiences??

I hate these things... they waste my ink, my paper and my time   . Every one I get has a different # to call to be removed from the list. I called a few at first but it didn't help, they kept coming  Finally I had to set my fax machine to manually accept them, which is a pain when a "real" one comes through. There's apparently a law in the states against this but nothing here as far as I know. If anybody knows how to stop them from coming, PLEASE tell me, I am sick of it.

The company that paid a 3rd party to junk fax you has to have a fax number. You can find that out not too hard, and then you dial *67, and then fax then a 1.5 page of pure black, and then on bottom of page 2 tell them if they dont cease you'll fax then 3x what you just faxed the following week. Then 6x, 9x. 12x.

your fax number is on a data base and this bought and sold - call and have your number removed - sorry I don't remember what the company was that handles this but try the CRTC. Even after you have your number removed - it'll take a while before the deletion actually trickles into effect. Even then you number is already out there and on other databases by now.

We ended up ditching our fax line of 15 years and got a new number - no we don't advertise the number, list it in the directory and only give it out on a need to know basis ----- not a single junk fax in over 5 months now.

Fax broadcaster and spammers are the scum of the earth.

Never drop your business card into a box for a "free draw" at a restaurant or trade show. This is a great way for a business to make a few extra bucks by selling your contact info to these junk mailers/faxers.

Instead, use other people's business cards who have annoyed your or that you were going to throw away anyway.

If there are any to ask you to enter a "code" that means they have multiple lists. You need to contact one of the companies promoting stuff and ask who their fax marketer is and then call their general number.

I would continue calling as many as you can and keep copies of the ones you called and the time you called them. If they re-send you faxes then threaten to sue.

Overall, I have a lot less faxes now. I still get moron's sending me their resumes though...

haha, I was going to ask for the same thing. Do we work at the same place nubbie? :D

Faxing back only works when they give you a fax number to fax back like what callous mentions. If they are sending it though a broadcaster, you're best best is to *67 to see if you can get the originating number; search for what broadcaster it is and get their phone number; then contact them directly and ask to add you're number to their exclude list. Broadcasters have no control over the lists. But the reputable ones will put you on their exclude list and anyone who faxes though them wont get to you.

Anyway, I hope that helps.

I get fax calls on my home "voice" phone line. Its been 3 yrs since I've had the number and I still get them. Bell asked me to provide them with a list of numbers that call me and they'll ask them to stop.

It helps a bit, but then others start faxing instead.
