View Full Version : Worst TTC route in the city?

Which route do you find the worst in Toronto?

All factors that could apply are: always not on time, more vehicles going on way than the other, they all arrive at the same time, routes are often too packed, or lack thereof vehicles period.

I nominate the 506 route. It is always off schedule, and I always see more vehicles heading from west to east, than east to west.

You vote for worst route?

I'll nominate the 501 route (at least, westbound in the morning). Almost never ontime.. especially after 10:00AM. I avoid it like the plague at that time.

Are you kidding? They run more of those busses than Sheppard Eastbound from Don Mills!

What a waste of money Sheppard Line was. It was quicker when the bus used to go straight along Sheppard to Yonge/Sheppard than it is to goto Don Mills and take the subway.

68 Warden N is pretty bad, half the time I see Birchmount loading at the station more than once before a Warden bus comes.

I hear Kennedy is pretty bad though.

You West enders don't know what bad transit is....

try one bus per 25 minutes, not alot, but from Fairview going east yea there are lots, but not from sheppard station to fairview. I understand there is the subway there, but i used to live right between 2 stations, like 10 and 15 min walk to either end, i had to resort to bus, and there are just barely any

agree......the subway line only benefited the ppl who live close to the subway station................but before the subway line in service, the 85 buses weren't good also, during the morining rush hour the buses were ok, but afternoon rush hour was bad.........

Agreed! One time I waited for an hour for that bus to come at Finch Station, but eventually just gave up and took a taxi home. Makes me wish that I lived on a different bus route.

whats so bad about the 130? it comes like every 20 min and barely any people take it so its nice and comfortable. If you dont like the frequency in which it comes then walk your arse to mcowan.

41 Keele is pretty bad, impossible to catch one on time in the winter.

The f**king drivers sit at YorkU stop, and wait way more than 15 minutes for their break...hate.

I would disagree, I've been riding this bus twice/day for over 2.5 years, and I've memorized the schedule by now. I can generally approximate when I need to be at Scarborough Centre station, and the bus is almost always there, as expected. I have no complaints with this service, it's not very frequent because it's not very popular (not many people live along Middlefield) but as long as you know the bus schedule, you should be alright because the buses are pretty reliable.

My only complaint about the 130 route: Not Enough Eye Candy (hotties on the bus)

Uugh. 53 pissed me off today..
waiting 20 minutes for a freaking bus that's supposed to come at least once/ten minutes..

excuse was construction slowed the buses up.. but I didn't see any construction where the TTC customer service people said there was supposed to be..

Seems most of the votes are for bus routes. I thought I'd get more nominations for streetcar routes.

Yes, I agree though, all routes suck in the end.

what u people dont understand if that when a bus/ttc driver waits at a stop for a long time, its because they are waiting there to get the Schedules back on sync.
This happens when some drivers either go to fast, or too slow which throws the schedule off.

The vomit comet! That yonge st bus that runs after all the clubs let out. THat is some crazy people on there. I saw guys throwing pizza slices at the driver, and another time harras some dude just sitting there, they where flicking his ear lobes and he just stood there stone faced... it was kinda funny actually.

..
Except when they're waiting, and waiting..
AND THEN GET TO THE NEXT STOP LATE.

I've seen this many, many times waiting for the 68 bus at Steeles (the beginning of the line).

The worst route is 165D. I have to take the damn thing all the way to Major Mackenzie. It comes every 30-50min, and the last bus leaves Wilson at 10pm on weekdays 10:30 on saturday and like 7 on sunday...If I miss it then a nice brisk 3 hour walk awaits me at steeles. So much fun living in woodbridge without a car and having to go to u of t downtown everyday.

WHOAA you take 130 too!!! but no it's not the worse... it's an ok route if you minus the old bus they use....

but all the bus drivers on that route are really nice.... and they're always on time....

You can tell some of them really like their job, because they memorized every upcoming street including the small streets and some of them says "have a nice day and stuff"... I think the more TTC drivers should look up to the ones driving the 130 route....

Dude, then take the 107 Keele North from Downsview station. Much easier walk from Keele to Wilson then Steeles to Major Mackenzie. You must be insane to do that, lol. Though, I remembered when I walked from Highway 50 and Steeles to Jane and Major Mackenzie. Let me tell you, the walk never ended. LOL

but all the bus drivers on that route are really nice.... and they're always on time....

It's because the experienced drivers are shifted on the less hectic routes and usually during the calm times of traffic. The newbies of the jobs are placed like during rush-hour on those really busy streets, like 35 Jane.

The only route I use to find a pain is the 512 St. Clair streetcar. I use to take this everyday and it was a pain waiting for a streetcar to go to Keele as most the time it always short turns at Lansdowne. What makes it even worse is you get on at the station and 2 stops before Lansdowne the driver tells you its short turning. Like couldn't they of done that at the station.

The 95 Yorkmills is okay with me, except for those darn kids and their backpacks

hehe I usually have my bag on the side or in front of me so I don't hit anybody but when someone keeps the bag on and stands on a crowded bus I just swing my bag to the back against the other bag. Most of the time the other person takes the hint to just hold/take the bag off. If not I keep on nudging their bag with mine so its an uncomfortable ride.

Yeah I dispise that route as well, I take it everyday to York U. it was especially bad the previous years when they had the neverending construction on Keele between Wilson and Finch.
I especially hated having to take 41 late night after 10 (cause of a late lecture) never comes, you just wait and wait...

how do you know they get to the next stop late?
TRaffic could be a factor.

OK, let me describe it for you:
most of the 68 buses turn back to go south at Steeles. There is a special semicircular road built a few years ago to assist them with this, where they often wait.

Now, let's say I just miss a bus (has happened many, many times..). I check the time on my cell phone, and calculate from there what time the next bus should arrive at (ie. to compensate for any difference in time between my cell and the TTC's time.. say, the bus I just missed was supposed to be there at 9:20AM.. my phone says it's 9:22AM, and the next bus is expected at 9:30AM. I expect that the next bus should be there - at the very latest - by 9:32AM by my cell)

The next bus arrives at the waiting-point stop (described above) with more than enough time to make it to my stop (which is only ~100m away, with one traffic light inbetween). And so I wait..
and wait..
and wait..
9:30 goes by..
9:32 goes by..
finally, at 9:33, the bus starts to leave.. gets caught at the traffic light, and arrives at the stop at 9:34 - 2 minutes late by any account.

This is not an isolated incident.. I've seen it happen several times (and luck have it, usually when I'm already running late.. and hoping the TTC will make good progress to get me to my destination on time.. )

bus route 11 (Bayview) is the worst... they have the most irregular schedule (they never follow the schedule...)
meanwhile.... Finch (39E, 39D) has WAY more Express bus than needed... I have seen a lot of Finch express buses going empty.. skipping bus stops with pplz waiting...
in the morning... you can see the phenomenom where three TTC buses with the same route going together... like a train...
