God stop being so Anal. You have to spend 20 minutes here now before you post something because someone might have posted before or it might be in the wrong section. Christ there weren't even any sections when I joined and there wern't all these whiners either.

Most people aren't going to get your humour I think Al. Probably just the Maritimers.

It is for "Fuji CD-R for Photo" ...

Update > About the third week of September, Fuji announced a new CD-r storage media called PhotoDisc which is a 80 min. 700 Mb 48x disc with a new or derivative dye and made on a black substrate instead of the clear polycarbonate. The claim is that it's longevity is up to ten times that of their regular cd-r's and by the name is designed for photo storage.

Memorex has "Black" CD-Rs as well ...

omg there are 9 postings in this thread, and 4 of em are from maniac. Is there any need? Posting quota must be down today (prolly, you've only made 36 posting so far today.. that seems kinda low)?

The 10 pack is available at Staples for $13

So $13 - $5 = $8 is not so hot (unless these turn out to meet Fuji's longevity claims)

Since this MIR is good until the end of the year, it would be good to keep in mind for potential future PMs

Memorex has "Black" CD-Rs as well ...

http://www.ememorex.com/assets/product_images/32024751T.jpg[/QUOTE]

I would stay away from the memorex 80min black cd-r's (no country on the package, it just says "imported"). I've still got a couple unburnt ones from a couple years back because after a period of time the top layer (starts around the shiny outside edge) flakes off. They might have fixed them, but I wouldn't drop my coin on them.

most stores dont carry this particular product...try Blacks Photo or possibly Grand&Toy

change the title to say "Fuji CDR PHOTO" as it only applies to that particular kind

cheers~

But for those of you hoping it was for Fuji 700mb cd-r's,
Future Shop has them onsale for $22.99 right now. Web id: 10018104
Staples.ca still shows them as being $38.49

Print out the Futureshop webpage (showing your local store having stock) and take it into Staples for a PM. You should be able to get them for about $17 after PM. Pick through the pile and get "Made in Japan".

I have not bothered with it this time, I've still got plenty from my last PM last fall.

Of course, don't tell them about the PM until you're talking with the cashier...

Yes Anal. Why do you feel a need to post to point out what you think is not a deal. It makes people that might have deals not want to post because they might not meet all your expectations. If you are not interested in the post just close it and move on.

i'm sure if i didn't point that out, then someone else sooner or later would!

if nobody pointed it out, then for example, there would be many ppl posting "off-topic" threads in the hot-deals (or other non-related) section!... its not like that hasn't happened b4.

FYI, in my 1st post of this thread:

"it'd be nice if u could post where and at what price u can get these cds for."

i specifically expressed interest in the deal.... that's y i responded....

neither did i directly say that the post by alkapone wasn't a deal.... i just pointed it out that technically, it should be in the freebies section.;...

Oh, in case 100 years is not up to your expectation ... Try this "300 years" kind ...

http://www.gizmodo.com/archives/images/delkin_gold_cd.jpghttp://instacontent.mirror-image.net/henrys/websnaps/513RES010.jpg

Gold is one of the most inert elements on earth and Delkin incorporates 20¢ of 24k gold into every eFilm Archival Gold disc. Gold’s inert characteristics prevent oxidation, a common cause of failure to most CD-Rs. Along with the Phthalocyanine dye and gold reflective layer, eFilm Archival Gold CD-R’s provide the most extreme protection for your digital images from environmental degradation.

I disagree it does not belong in the freebee section. Maybe not the hottest deal but why point it out just cause some moron will. Pass it by. If its not interesting it will quickly go to bottom of list.

I need DVD-Rs for my photo storage..
Same here ... My photo collection has outgrown the size of a CD-R long long time ago ... 1 DVD is much more economical than 3-4 CD-Rs ... Right now, I am betting on some relatively high quality discs. I don't mind to see more of these 'gold' discs showing up on the marketplace ...

ok, here's a lil update:

i just came back from walmart and found out the following

fuji cd-r photo 10pk: $11.4X (b4 taxes)
fuji cd-r photo 5pk: $6.1X (b4 taxes)

sorry, don't remember exact value in cents but close enuff.

so after applying the MIR its about ~$5.4x 10pk or ~$3.6x (all b4 taxes)

-------------------

but i think i recall LD last couple wks, they had a "catalogue" flyer that sold these same fuji photo cd-rs for a bit less than walmart (~$1-2)...

but i think the LD flyer expired already.

What it means for the 300 yr Gold...
DVD discs as we know them wont exist....let alone players
Will have to transfer as technology changes...museums and archival sources will prob have all technologies.
300 years is a long time ...esp with rapidly changing technologies.
