Okay, for a while now, every time I load up a game, the screen will flicker.

I've tried reinstalling two official versions of the drivers and even a hacked driver from LaptopVideo2Go, and it's still the same thing.

I tried reinstalling DirectX 9.0c, but apparently you can't...

So, I have no idea what to try.

Oh, I'm on a Dell Inspiron 8200 with a GeForce440 Go.

Thanks again.

Well, I've tried Call of Duty, Spellforce... even Typing of the Dead. And they all do the same.

The only thing that seems to work is Rome Total War.

hmm..thats weird,

Have you tried movies or something?? also, maybe play around with the video settings in games? if Rome Total War works fine try to mimic its settings to other games.

You can also try older drivers or dx8.1 instead. Or try the drivers that came with your Laptop instead, maybe the drivers are specifically for that type of geforce440go ( i doubt but you never know).

hope this helps n good luck!

It's weird, because before Rome Total War would lag (when playing videos) and all my other games are fine... now Rome Total War plays fine, but the other games blink... ugh...

My system works fine otherwise though...

Have you tried another video card? And could it be a power supply issue?

Yes, I did read. Only the followup posts mentioned anything about a laptop. His first post does mention LaptopVideo2Go but how do I know if that only works on laptops. Same with Dell Inspiron 8200 .. I am not familiar with non-IBM models okay? So relax.

And if it is a laptop, usually flickering is caused by a bad or loose LCD cable. And less often the LCD panel itself (depending on what kind of flickering). So you might want to look into that if it's not a software problem. I'm not familiar with Dells but they all generally work the same.

Install Power Strip and lock your refresh frequency to that of your desktop. Windows, by default, always drops the frequency when you play games and this causes the flickering.
