Here's the thing:
I have those RMVB files of chinese series and i'm trying to play it on my S60 phone.
I tried converting the RMVB to avi or mpg but none of the file converters work. I've tried a lot of them. THey always have some sort of error. I'm not sure if the RMVB are some special type. Does anyone know what's wrong?
Or is there any S60 program that can play RMVB?

.RMVB is a realplayer format.
Do you have realplayer installed? If not get "real alternative" http://www.codecguide.com/download_real.htm
I believe you need the realplayer codec to even convert the file.

I think you guys didn't read his post correctly or something or it's just that I'm dumb
He wants to play it on a S60 phone and from what I know most of them include a Real Player.
Have you tried converting the RMVB to Mpeg and then back to RM file?
Or you could try straight converting to Real Media format?

You have to convert it to .MPG with Winavi first, then convert it to .3pg format with PVauthor.

Wondering what authoring program you are using to create your DVD's. I havent tried myself but I heard WinAVI files (rmvb->mpg) dont work with TMPG Author.

1. If the resolution and quality of the clip is too high, the S60 may not powerful enough to play the clip.
2. If the RMVB is corrupted, the converted mpg will not be playable after the corrupted frame, even through the original RMVB can be played on the Real Player. I try the conversion on TMPGEnc, Winavi, RM Converter ...... and still no luck. Unless you extract the good RMVB clip after the corrupted frame using the Real Media Editor (part of the RealProducer Plus), no converter can convert the RMVB clip correctly.
3. TMPGEnc DVD Author can burn 10 TV Show (40 minutes each) on 1 DVD in VCD quality. If using the mpg clips that is converted from RMVB by WinAVI, the sound track will not in sync with picture when using TMPGEnc DVD Author. So I use TMPGEnc version 2.54.37.135 to convert RMVB to VCD standard mpg and than use TMPGEnc DVD Author to make the DVD.

I just convert it into VOB files, and then use DVDLab to author it

You ain't see nothing yet, try this...
1) Install Real Alternatives
2) use Eo Video or any software that can encode your rmvb to wave
3) use TmpGenc Plus, use the RMVB as Video and the wave file as audio
Simply smoke WinAVI, don't use it anymore.

thx for your replies guys.
i found the solution:
I had realplayer10 and that apprently was a problem so I installed real Alternative and it works fine when converting.
For those who wish to watch movies on S60 phones, use smartMovie. It's the best converter and player with excellent quality. It can convert RMVB too. There is a demo version for d/l but if you dont' want to pay for it then there is other ways to get around that. If you need help let me know.

Why is RMVB so popular in China anyway?

Why is RMVB so popular in China anyway?
i think its because the files sizes are up to 70% smaller. but then again the video is also crappier but comparable. 1hr (aprox. 43mins) tv episode goes for 350mb for some good quality divx compressed avi. in rmvb it goes for about 110-150mb for some grainy pixilated quality (typical MIC quality) that chinese ppl have come to accept since ive seen VCD's that look worst than rmvb.
rmvb is not that bad, its bearable if you just want to watch something in okay quality on your small cpu moniter.
another reason may be the 1.4billion ppl have adopted this as the standard and use it because they are used to it.
