View Full Version : Anyone come to Parliament Hills (Ottawa) today?

Just came back from Parliament Hills today from March For Marriage rally. I'd have to say it was a success! 20,000 people showed up from around Ontario and Quebec. Lots of good speakers and many important issues brought up. Some Liberal MP's showed up as well.

Even some gay activist group decided to show to give meaning to our rally. Though I think they were bit confused singing the national anthem. We are singing “Oh Canada and they were so off key. No wonder they left early :)

Anyway, I'm sure pictures of the rally will start appearing soon.

Since nobody has replied, I guess I'll be the first.

What we need in Canada is some protesting, Middle-East style. Singing the national anthem and stuff is great, but doesn't make good headlines / video for the 6 o'clock news.

Definatly need some random AK47s shooting into the air. Why not add some festivity with some flag burning as well

I saw the protest... it was just 60+ men with their wives. Stupid conservatives fearing something that not in anyway a threat to marriage and doesnt affect them at all.

What really shocked me was the amount of people bringing their kids there... what kind of sh1t is that....

"Today's Liberal party, the corruption of that party, is destroying Canadian federalism in the province of Quebec," Mr. Harper told the crowd of about 4,000 people who gathered on Parliament Hill to voice opposition to government legislation that would legalize same-sex marriages...

4000 people at that time... I wouldn't be surprised if there were 10-15000 people that made appearances during the day.

They're affiliated with National Post correct? I remember seeing a National Post reporter at the front. Maybe it was him. There were quite a few signs in the area he was standing. Guess they must have blocked his view.

There were many more elderly people there than just Knights of Columbus. The people who were there were the Ethnic Minorities. The same people Paul Martin says he's representing...

That's just rude. Just because you don't believe in something doesn't mean that you need to degrade other people who believe in it. Go troll somewhere else.

Edit: I'm looking at that as a comment on its own. I personally support gay marriage...I'm not gay, but I think that people should be treated equally regardless of their race, sex, sexuality, etc...

But regardless of my view, people are allowed to have their own opinions.

People can drink and drive as well. Take drugs, spray graffitti on walls. Don't really care, but don't pass a "law" to support it. Fiberals are on their way out for awhile. This dog won't pass.

despite all the neo-con efforts to resist change, the anti-gay provisions of canadian laws would go the same way that anti-women, anti-black, anti-minority provisions did...

Then why do you keep replying with meaningless comments?

Thats the problem with our 'leftist' bleeding heart society. Soon we'll be allowing civil marriage between humans and plants, its only fair.

By the way, I'll save you a response, and your right I love plants. I'm a closet plant lover.

Most gays are not in favour of gay marriage. I attended the march not because I oppose gay marriage (I don't support, but I don't oppose either). I attended to show that small clique of gay activists that they don't speak for the majority and they should stop siccing the human rights hounds on the good, upstanding citizens of Canada who express their honest opinion.

Completely agree.

They can do whatever they want in their bedroom all they want. But when news broadcasts show men kissing on prime time TV everytime this stupid topic comes up, it makes me sick.

I actually had to cover the eyes of my 4 year old daughter, and tell her I didn't want her to see something very disgusting on TV. It was pathetic.
