I was told you can download files much faster from e-mule if you use something called TCP or UDP

Anyone know how?

I've never heard of such a thing

TCP / UDP are network packets. It's not a program.

P2P network programs like emule will function better if you open up the ports on your firewall / router.

Check what TCP & UDP ports emule is using (should be somewhere in the settings)

Go to your Router configuration and basically forward those port requests to your computer.

If you have firewall software on your PC, allow requests on those ports.

If you're hooked directly up to the Internet w/o a router or don't have Firewall software, you don't need to do any of this stuff.. mind you, it's also not the smartest thing to do either. (hooking up directly w/o any firewall software that is)

Dude, you're using TCP right now and you didn't even know it - how wild is that.

LOL

But if I'm connected to a common router (sharing Internet with someone else) then does that main router have to be altered for this to occur?

Doesn't really make sense to me how you can open a TCP port and then emule will be faster...always seemed to me like you would need to have the website operate faster

In any case, anyone know any bit torrents that have big files to download?
I find bit torrents faster

eMule uses port 4662. If you're behind a router and haven't configured your port forwarding settings you'll get a low id. If you want a high id, modify your port forwarding settings to allow traffic on this port to pass through to the specific computer on the network.
