Since I upgraded to Windows XP SP2 it takes forever to get an IP address from my router. Prior to the upgrade, as soon as I loggen in to my laptop, my network connection would be ready to go. Now, once I log in it starts trying to get an IP and usually doesn't get one. I have to go to the "repair" tab and then it get an IP.
Anyone have the same issue? The GUI has also changed for wireless connections in SP2!
Laptop: IBM ThinkPad T40P
Router: DI-624
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
Thanks!

Go to a command prompt and type: ipconfig /renew and see if there are any error messages. Any third party firewalls running?

when you install sp2...the windows firewall becomes enabled. If you are using a router with a firewall, just disable the windows one.

The only other thing I can think of is to to ensure your network setting are all set to default (unless you have some sort of a special setup). I would also try clearing your DHCP client table in your router.
Not sure if any of this would help because upgrading to WinXP wouldn't change any of your network settings on your PC. It could be the router that is the culprit.

Thanks for the tips!
I had McAfee Desktop firewall running before the installation of SP2. I have now disabled the Windows Firewall (also tried disabaling both), but there's no difference. It takes too long to get a n IP or it doesn't and I then have to do an ipconfig /renew.
Nothings changed on my setup except for the addition of SP2.
