I fractured my wrist back in late summer and also have tendinitis. So far my wrist has been in a cast, physio, cortisone shot. The Orthopaedic feels he can nothing more for me and is sending me to a hand specialist. There is a possibility they may do surgery. There are only a few hand specialists in my city and my appointment is Oct.24. Anyone else seen a hand specialist?

I remember my fingers got MASHED apart, and they are still crooked today. A hand specialist came in, and they had to re-break my fingers twice before they were anywhere near straight.

However, my guy came right to me 3 days after... I guess it was one of those things that needed immidiate attention, or it would be unfixable soon...

They are all pretty laid back, and know what they are doing. The guy in the ER f'ed up my fingers when he tried to re-set them - Not enough drugs, too sudden with his bending... so they had to call in the pro.

He just dual-needled my hand, and rotated my fingers - That did the trick

Hands are very finicky, I hope you get a good one

damn, goodluck to you

i remebr once i punched this guy in the face and my right pinky after hitting him could not open or close without enormouse amount of pain. it was like that for a couple week but did not bother checking it, now when i compare my hand to my left hand u can see its crooked or bent a little, n if i were to squeeze my pinky onto my hand hard it would hurt, but left hand is okay....oh well

What city are you in?

I'm in the rehab field working in one of the GTA hospitals with a hand clinic.

Various Orthopaedic surgeons will have various methods to deal with the same problem. Just like rehab.

I just finished attending an Upper Extremity update yesterday and it wasn't surprising to hear some variation by 4 surgeons on the same x-ray in terms of recourse.

You can PM me the info if you like.

Thanks! I live in Winnipeg. I am not sure the exact number of hand specialists in Winnipeg, but have heard that the doctor I am being referred to is good.
