Your fault... b/c your never suppose to use fake information for anything anyways. In some cases yes, but in Ebay it is unappropiate.

Dont take this the wrong way... but I think you are wrong. I dont think you should have put a fake address in your ebay account.
How is the seller supposed to know whether you are a fraud or not. It would be so easy to scam someone if you hack someone's ebay account and then buy something and tell the seller to ship to an alternate address.
Pretty much the seller is a lot safer if s/he only ships to the address associated with the ebay account.

its the sellers fault for not being clairvoyant and not exhausting every possible scenario but the most obvious one before making their shipment.

I would only ship to the address registered on ebay or paypal.
I know you are not lying, but then you have to understand the seller has to be cautious and you would do the same thing. Especially if you are dealing with a new eb@y account.

hehe, good question, I think this is a case where he thought he was 'scamming a scammer'. He probably didn't ship but took your money thinking it's not your money anyway.

you should have correct information in your ebay account
if you are that much worried about online security, then may be ebay is not the place for you

What you are doing is justifying your actions and ignoring the real issue. What does the seller have to do with your friend's advice? Take a step back and look through the sellers perspective and ask yourself what position you would be in if you were the seller. Ultimately, I think you are responsbile but I don't entirely blame you because I also think the seller ought to have responded with a better course of action when you provided an alternate address (ie, telling you he would not ship to the alternate address before sending).

A lot of sellers on ebay, run their business off it. They could sell hundreds of items in a day, and use an automated script to send packages. I'm sure the last thing anyone's expecting is for someone to use a fake address, and if they do, so what. Like the other poster said, you can't complain to ebay.. even RFD is having a hard time giving the sympathy card. The package will eventually get returned to the seller, and you'll have learned a lesson. no issue for him.

In the first post you said you didn't want to put your real info in, and then in your last one you said, you told your friend to put the real info in but for some reason he didn't
sounds kinda contradicting if you ask me...
but the correct answer to your question is, you're at fault.

Don't blame the seller because he shipped to your fraudulent address. If you had updated the correct information in your account this would not have happened.
Well GL getting the package regardless, but you put yourself in this position and you have no one to blame but yourself.

I havn't laughed so hard at a self-declared-stupidity-thread since peterbrown didn't want to waste an envelope putting the correct recipt in for a MIR.
You're lucky the seller didn't report your fake info to ebay and get your accout shut down.

You should have asked if the seller will be okay with shipping the item to an address that is not your registered address on ebay/Paypal BEFORE bidding. When I was in the State, I asked the seller if he/she will ship to an unconfirmed address (my address is in Canada) before bidding. I have done this twice and have no problem at all because the seller was willing to do so. FYI, it was a new eBay account as well. For your sake, I hope the item wasn't an expensive item.

why not contact the seller and tell him that u will pay for him to cancel the shipping and reship it to you . i am sure it will cost u less then what the item is worth .
take the hit and tell him you were at blame for not making it clear u do not live at that adress and that after realizing u did not update the info you updated with your real adress ( in which u actually update your adress and tell him to send to the new one)

This is completely your fault....

i agree...i always send info on the new address (if any changes) twice...once on the confirmation email that I send him/her back upon winning the item and then also on the paypal message

you are clearly at fault, a lot of time sellers and in your case a powerseller dont have time to read all the detailed instructions, espeically when not confirmed through email ahead of time. those comments in payment boxes really aren't looked at much.
as already mentioned, they usually have scripts/programs to just print the shipping label once payment is recieved from an auction and its shipped out. sounds like your seller was a good quick seller and you have no one to blame but yourself.

God, you never cease to amaze me, first you say that YOU made the ebay account with the fake info, then everyone gives you flak, so you completly change your story to "my friend" made the account. You deserve to lose every penny in this transaction. If this seller has any brains he will report that account to ebay

Just correct your address. truth is... Powersellers arent gonna read your emails unless you do it at least 3 days in advance.
ITs good to go into ebay transactions assuming the worst case scanario.

I MEANT!!! That me and my freind made the account i wanted to put the fake inforamtion, which my friend told me i agreed with him, after a while, as it might confuse the sellers i told my freind to change it but he said it doesnt matter, and im liek alright because my frist item was received sucessfully which was from a powerseller too. So i maintainted it like that, and recieved others items sucesfully too, until this moment

The product was only 17$, but i ordered expesniver product on the same account 2 laptops, a cable for dad worth 300$, all the expesnive items were done profesionally the seller comfirmed my address etc. while this item was cheap and was not done professioanlly and i bought all my product from Power sellers, or probally the product wasnt worth so mcuh the seller didnt care to confirm or anything and wanted it out, as the seller did read my email about address and replied back with his email to certa pay email address where i should send the payment too.
