Hi, I'm going to buying a Linksys WRT54G router with the purpose of using it as a wireless bridge to connect my xbox to the wireless network in my home. What's the best firmware for this? I also heard that with special firmware, the router can tunnel for me, instead of having the PC running. Is this true?
TIA

Just install the latest firmware and it work fine for xbox live.
I use the same router for xbox live.
The only tweak I had to do was turn on DMZ in the router. Basically that forwards all ports to and from the xbox. I had to do that or I would get dropped from games from time to time.

Is there a bridge mode in this router? I currently have the 802.11b version of the router and it does not support bridge mode.

Sveasoft makes 3rd party firmware, but apparently violate the GPL agreement by charging $20 for a year subscription to his site for the download(s).
TheIndividual has taken issue with this as Sveasoft is apparently threatening legal action over site distributing "his" code. So he has re-released the code here:

I am using my wrt54g for this exact purpose. Using Satori. Alchemy didn't seem to work last I tried. Note that Sveasoft's firmware does not seem to be too efficient, albeit still adequate for streaming divx. Max transfer speeds were around 90KB/s while my laptop was able to max out my 5Mb Rogers connection (around 500KB/s). This was a d/l test from the net.
