Can I get that from the municipality? I'm looking into purchasing a old home. It's an estate sale and the family has really jacked up the price and it needs alot of work. I want to know just how much it's really worth before I put an offer in.
Thanks

How much a home is worth depends on the current market. There's no hard and fast rule for the exact value of a home. The best thing you can do is to talk to a real estate agent and ask him/her to be your buying agent. Then they can take a look at what prices other similar houses in the same area sold for. These days it's a sellers market and most houses usually sell for mare than they're listed at.

Ya... the market is really saturated  Hopefully higher interest rates will drop the prices a bit

I live in a small community and the housing market here is definetly a buyers market. I thought there was a way to find out what the house has been assest (sp?) at. You know, for tax purposes, every house has a value and that controls how much you pay on taxes.
