I believe they quoted me $150 for the modem if it's lost, either in transit or late when I cancel and ship it back. It's ridiculous as they expect you to recieve the envelope they want you to ship it back in, plus the transit time in 15 days. Bell are full of b@stards.

YEAH BELL IS FULL OF B@STARDS!!!!!!! I just got ripped off by BELL, they charged me the usage fee for March, but I already canceled my service in early Feb. I called them, they said it's a mistake and they will give me the credit given that i send in the modem in 15 days..If i dun send in the modem they will rip me off once again later...they hav my credit card number. The problem is I couldnt really find my modem now... Im thinking of using tat credit to solve the return modem problem.

if it's $150 ... FCCK donno wat i'm going to do now...any suggestion ?

Go to eBay and buy the SpeedStream 5200 for $40 and send it back to Bell. If they claim that you lost it.

As far as I know, they don't track serial numbers. In fact, you can send them any modem they previously used.

Nortel
Alcatel Speed Touch Home
SpeedStream 5200

Well, I don't work for Bell (after many resumes), but the best thing to do is speak to one of those vegetables with a headset, representative. I could never get any useful (or honest) answers from them when I need help.

I'm currently in a dispute with them over my Sympatico service. Again, Bell Canada and all their subsidiaries are full of thieves.

Fack U, Bell!

I called Bell Canada to cancel all my service (phone + internet) in early feb, fine...the Bell lady on the phone said she will pass the message to Bell Sympatico and they will take care the rest of the high speed deactivation part for me...but she didnt , DAMN !!! Bell sympatico didnt even know I wasnt using the Bell Sympatico service since early feb, I didnt even have a phone line since early feb, how the heCK I could use bell sympatico, the technical department should have known that the modem had been unpluged since then. But they charged me the usage until today I called them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Bell lady could have asked someone from sympatico to contact me abt the deactivation and request the return of modem. The communication between Bell Canada and Sympatico is so FCCK UP...they dun communicate well. NOW lead to the problem that Sympatico owes me 54$ due to the monthly service charge by mistake and I owe them the modem which I cant really find it, has to be in my room, hav to keep looking....they will send me the $54 credit back in FCCKIN 6 WEEKS if i send in the modem...

Stupi*d Bell operator, I could have sent in the Modem in early feb if she did the right job. So FCCKIN IRRESPONSIBLE !!!

FU BELL !!!!!

Live and learn.

Don't trust Bell to do things for you, and always get a reference number. The modem thing is your responsibility, so be prepared to pony up some major clams if it's lost.

So it's Bell fault you signed an agreement with them, it's their fault you used their services, and it's their fault you "lost" the modem?

Let's say you signed up for their service and never plugged in a computer, turned it on and used it. You kept their modem in a box--or you lost it. How does that differ from the last month or two? It doesn't. Or if you used it all. No difference. You signed up for a period of time, you used or didn't use the service, and it costs to subscribe.

Next time, don't just half-wittingly phone in your cancellation. You should call, email and then fax in your cancellation.

Now you know.
