Recently signed up for a CT Mastercard to replace my Mosaik MC from BOM.
CT MC gives you 1% back in CT money on practically all purchases, anywhere (except insurance - don't ask me how they know). Purchases do not have to be from CT - they can be from anywhere, even their competitors. If you buy CT products with your CT MC you get an extra 20% in CT money on the card.

Best of all the card is free. Unlike my previous MC from BoM, the Mosaik MC only gave me .5% cash back. Although it is CT money instead of real money, I'll take it any day. I shop at CT all the time (and only buy stuff on sale anyways).

In the last two years, I spent over 40K on my BoM M/C. I coulf have received $400 in CT money, instead of $200 in real money. It is so easy to collect $10 a month in CT money especially when you forgo cash and charge everything. Here is the link

RFD had a entire list of Credit Cards and their benefits awhile ago.

The only other that compares is the PC Financial card which also gives you 1%.

CT doesn't really give you 1%, I'm not exactly sure why, but I spent like $700 on multiple items but got only $6.60 (around 0.94%)

Still good though, in a year or two I'll have enough for a new set of tires!

I think it is because of the rounding off. If you buy 6.45 you get 6 cents, not 7 cents. It all adds up when you make lots of small purchases.

I think PC mastercard gives you points for which you can buy stuff. I don't like collecting points. I like seeing straight cash back on the cards

You don't really get 1%.

For each transaction, they round it down to the nearest $10.

For example, buy something for $9 and it gets rounded down to zero.

One other bonus with the Canadian Tire MC is that whatever there BEST deal is at the gas pumps - you automatically get than on your card. Ie: if there is an 8X coupon in the paper for gas, you don't need it, you get that reward just for using the card.

Now that the SHELL / A&P grocery deal has halted  , I think CDN TIRE will be the best gas reward.

You get both CDN TIRE MONEY & SOBEY'S MONEY. :)

I'm don't shop at CT often so it wouldn't be too useful for me.
However, as a student... I find the Starbucks Card/Visa pretty good...
You can use the card as your starbucks card and as a RBC visa.

1% of all visa purchases is credited to ur starbucks account (aka. Duetto Dollars) and if you use the visa for automatic top up for ur starbucks account, you get an additional 2% (so 3% total). There are also quarterly rewards depending on how much you purchase with your visa.

More details can be found at http://forums.redflagdeals.com/showthread.php?t=138607

or the Starbucks site...

Citibank Enrich Mastercard give you a full 1% cash back for your purchases, and no fees. Same as your CT card, but real cash and no rounding down to the nearest $10. Nice card, highly recommended.

Hi,

The Canadian Tire MC is a great one. My husband's had it for about three years and, providing you pay your balance off each month, it's no different than any other no-fee card from that point of view, but it has the added bonus of the CT money, which adds up surprisingly fast. I recommend it *highly* for those who don't hold a balance.

If you do hold a balance, I recall that we were solicited while in Kelowna a few weeks ago regarding what I think was that President's Choice MC, or something similar that involved Loblaw's-type stores. I noticed that it offers 3.5% on balance transfers (I think it was) but the unique part was that the interest rate remained at 3.5% until that transferred balance was paid off completely. If I'm not mistaken, these offers to transfer over balances at a relatively low interest rate usually have a time limit, like for three months after the transfer or something. This credit card I'm speaking of had an unlimited time period. This looks like a good offer for a person who's stuck in some high-interest hell and would like to get out of it.
