That would be a neat novelty item for the person who has (almost) everything

Heh, if I could stop my friend from losing money at the casino with this, I'd buy him one. Unfortunately, he wouldn't see the point of using it since it doesn't offer a huge payout -- his whole motivation for going to the casino. Him actually getting a payout is another story

Is it just a cropped picture, or is this in fact a "no arm" bandit?

A "no arm bandit" seems like an even better way to stop losing monet at the casino. :)

I have a similar style slot. They are Japanese and called Pachislo (skill stop).

I also paid $600 for mine which is a lot. They wanted $800, which was the most expensive one they had. I talked them down to $600 which still actually very expensive but I really wanted this one because I loved the Bruce Lee theme and I had to have it. Get three num chuks in a row and Bruces goes WWWWAAAAHHHHHH, bam bam bam. They range in price from $300 to $600 generally and it depends on the theme and features like LCD or slot machine arm. Most can also be converted to accept quarters.

How much does a real slot machine cost(the ones they use in the casinos), assuming you can get one.

The real ones can be bought on eBay for upwards of $1000. This machine is really only a game of chance as you have to stop the reels by yourself, they don't stop by themselves.

Giant Tiger in Ottawa (Walkly Road) had them for $399 back in January. I was waiting for it to go on clearance for $99 and pick one up at that time. But the last time I went there, I noticed they are all gone. I suppose, someone must have bought all of them, set them up in their basement and started their own gambling hall. :cheesygri

You mean casino slots aren't a game of chance? ;

If anybody is actually interested in one and your store is out, have them call the Pembroke one, they have had the same 3 or 4 sitting there for at least 2 months now.

Well it would still only pay out what you put into it...and who would want to hit the jackpot on this machine?

I just wanted to point out that it is really refreshing to see someone spell "losing" right. 8 out of 10 times on this board it is spelled "loosing". Thanks OP, you have given me new hope! :)

For 599.00 that's alot of pulls at .05 a pull (or even at .25 cents a pull).......I would never rocoupe my investment. Heck, I dont' think I've even spent half that and i've been to Vegas twice and have 4 casinos within 1/2 hr drive of me which I goto several times a year. And at least if I spent it at a casino I might get comped and maybe even win a dollar or two. Oh lets face it, my first question about any casino is, do they have a buffet and how cheap is it--so the gambling side of a casino is secondary to me.

that's amazing, you can setup your own casino in your basement. :) is it illegal?
