Since I have been wondering this for a while... I figured who best can provide any insight on this matter .???? the experts here...

Now to start...its not a debate whether IPOD vs. other MP3 players are better BUT the question is:
With all the hype and success of all IPODs...so all you IPOD owners (who spent good $$$ on them !)

What happens when the battery dies.... how would you address this issue ?
buy battery from APPLE / replace yourself ??? what are the choices out there for a depleted battery ??? I have heard this battery is expensive to replace..and I am not the type to send it in and wait for it to come back to me..so why buy an IPOD... basically its a how do you handle a dead battery in the IPOD question....
thanks for all insight !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meh, deal with it when it comes.

It's only a battery, no point in giving deep thought to it.

think there are plent of third party places for battery replacement.

just a question if you are mechanically sound to open up your ipod without damaging it.

as for the shuffle I would imagine you are sol or why replace the battery in a thing that only cost around $100 to begin with.

I haven't replaced my battery yet on my used ipod (fingers crossed) but there are sites in the US that sell ipod battery replacements along with instructions and a thin screwdriver to pry the case apart. Some of these batteries have a better nimh rating than the standard ipod ones which should provide longer playing time. Search for "Ipod battery" on the web.

Hope this helps,

Ron

Apple offers a $99 replacement program for out of warranty iPods. If you have Applecare, I believe its free. However, it may be YEARS before the battery dies. Also, there are plenty of 3rd party replacement options like was mentioned above. Some as low as $40 or so. The Battery itself can be bought for around $30 or less. So don't stress about it.
