Just did the cap mod located in the head-fi.org forums. When I first purchased the card I found the bass very lacking. Bought the card for the superior dac but didn't read up that I needed to hook it up an amp. The mod originally recommended using highend blackgate caps which I cannot locate locally nor want to spend the money for 2 caps. So I used a regular run of the mill caps from the local store since the original caps are probably just as crappy. The original caps were 4.7uf were replaced with 47uf caps. Results: greatly improved bass response. For a $1.50 mod, its definitely worth it. http://www3.telus.net/ghostbb6/av710.JPG

Ya, this mod only improves analog. All you do is desolder the old caps and solder in new caps.

Evil Techie. I think you can do the same mod for 5.1. Just replace the 6 caps instead of 2 that I modified.

You could alterate caps, one on each side.
I have this card, I but I only use it for secondary audio (headphones) to the front of my PC and for my guitar. Kind of a waste of the DAC but it was cheap.
