Wow, HD mp3 players' price dropped quite a bit lately. De׀׀'s DJ30 is on sale right now for $310, also I can get the ipod photo 30GB for $360. I'm having a hard time to decide. Couple questions first:
1. Can you create a on-the-fly playlist on the DJ.

2. How is the scroll wheel on the DJ? How long does it take to scroll through 100 artists? I've used the click wheel and I like it a lot.

3. How long does it take for the ipod to display a 1600x1200 photo?

4. Can the ipod sync with pc version of Palm Desktop or Outlook.

5. I was amazed by how fast the ipod started to play after start-up. Scrolling through tracks was snappy considering it's a HD player. How responsive is the DJ's menu system?

I probably won't use the ipod to display photos much, but I like the album cover feature. Do you think the colour screen is worth $50?

3. the iPod photo scales the photo down to fit it's own screen and another copy to fit a TV screen. it will store the photo in native res but won't display it. i would go for iPod simply for the interface and easy of use alone.

you can scroll through the photos as fast as you can click, after a short 1sec pause to load them at first.

i think the DJ is fugly, but thats another concern.
