View Full Version : Do you tip the dealers at the casino?

I've heard conflicting views on this from many established professional gamblers and statisticians. Some say its a waste of your profit/bankroll, others say it is a necessary courtesy.

Also, if I do tip, should I just give the tip to the dealer, or have the dealer's tip ride on a hand with me (like betting his tip)? I've heard some dealers consider this a waste of their tip and others have told me that they enjoy being part of the gambling experience.

What happens to the tips anyway? Does it go to the dealer I tipped, or is split up amongst the dealers (or even worse, does the casino get it??) I hear them say "Tokes for the team" sometimes when a tip is given, which seems to mean it is split with the other dealers.

Finally, how much does a dealer make? If it is like $30/hour, I probably don't want to tip them anymore.

If at all - I'd say let the tip ride with your gambling.. you may have a better chance of winning (if the dealer knows you're doing this) :->

When i won 5500 i tipped the guy 50 bucks.

But usually at one sitting if im gambeling say 200 i would tip a few times at a dollar each.

As for the tips, all the tips are collected and are split between all the dealers.
So basically the dealer doesnt keep the tip that you get but he/she will see something out of that.

Tips make a fairly high % of their wage I think. Dealers don't discuss salary and tips much but from what I gathered when I asked one, tips probably account for 15% of their income.

You are not expected to tip, but it's in good form to tip if you are winning. Personnally, I let them decide if they want to play it or not... and most do play it.

I couple times I tipped the dealers $100 chips when they hand me like $2000.

If I win I tip. The amount is based on the winning amount. I usually give back 10%. However, the more booze I have in results in a bigger tip often.

Don't try tipping the dealers in the UK. They won't accept them.

Oh and I only tip if I win over $100 on a roll/spin.

Do dealers tip when they take your money? Why would you tip them for taking your money?

Here's my tip: Don't throw all your money away at the Casino.
