To Ipod shuffle users, can anyone tell me if you can add songs by simply dragging and dropping using normal windows removeable drive functionality and still listen to the song?

I've been told the IPOD and IPOD mini does not all you to do this, if you do, it's just a file on your IPOD and you can't actually use it, it's just stored there. To actually listen to your music you must use itunes to transfer. Is this true with the shuffle too?

That's right. Unless you use the hacks. (See below)

I thought there's a hidden music folder in the IPOD and you could drag n drop music files into it?

Either way I think for most IPOD users managing the music colletion with Itunes is rather convenient.

Thanks to all for replying.

There seems to be no definitive answer, perhaps I wasn't clear.

What I really want to know is:

If I was on a deserted Island with a computer full of mp3. Can I or can I not simply plug the shuffle into the computer and download songs onto my shuffle and be able to listen to it.

With the following assumptions:
1, the computer have access to electricity but no access to the internet and thus can not download some third party software to do this.
2, itunes is not available

Are there any hot women on that deserted island? Because thats always part of my fantasy.
I think an Ipod Shuffle would be a bit further down the list from hot women.

No, you cannot just drag and drop a mp3 into a folder.

I own and Ipod shuffle so I know for a fact you cant drag and drop them in

Reason is even if you put it inside the hidden ipod music folder is that the ipod plays songs from a database, so the song you transfered in isnt added to the database to be selected from to be played

i hate itunes, so i use ml_ipod which supports the shuffle and it like dragging and dropping

Thanks for the info. I think I'll probably pass then... I do like the formfactor and simplistic design.
