Well, doctors operated and were sucessfull at removing one! ! (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6998205/)

This was only one of 8 recorded cases in the world of this disease !

the story says that the other head was capable of smiling and blinking...does that mean that the other head had some control? Or was it the other little girl (the one that survived)?

I believe it's just one child, one brain, but with two heads. I think the smiling and blinking in the second head was controlled by the same kid.

Don't let the pro life people get a hold of this...might try and stop similar cases in the future by saying the head is a living being cause it could smile and blink. :twisted:

Actually, I find it disconcerting myself, and I'm not one of those staunch pro-lifers, however, I do see the point in doing the surgery - it's just that it's so sad. :( But let's hope that it was a case of only one brain controlling both heads; considering that other head was prefectly formed though, I have to wonder if it didn't have a brain, and sense everything; eventually speech, etc. might have come from this little person. :(
