What's the fastest way to drive there during rush hour? I just moved to Toronto last September, so I'm not familliar with all the shortcuts. (if any) MapQuest has me going down Mt. Pleasant-Richmond-Bathurst-King St. W.

Haha. Richmond, Bathurst, and King during rush hour are more congested than a smoker's lungs. Maybe Bayview, DVP, Gardiner, taking the exit just past Dufferin. Though the Gardiner is pretty bad westbound during rush hour. TTC would be perfect if you didn't have to go on to King Street. Nothing's perfect.

south on mt. pleasant to st. clair, west on st.clair to christie st, south on christie all the way to harbord (Christie St. becomes Grace avenue south of bloor, continue on Grace avenue to harbord), west on harbord to Ossington (which is the end of harbord), south on Ossington all the way to the end which is Queen, East or West on Queen (depending on which side of Dufferin/King you are getting to, if west of dufferin on king, then) turn east, go one block to shaw st, and make a right or south onto shaw and that'll take you to King st. then make a right or west on king to head towards dufferin which is about 3 blocks away.
go right on Queen and it'll take you right to dufferin under the bridge and turn left or south on dufferin and head towards king which is about 4 or 5 blocks south.
another way with less turns would be head west on st.clair all the way to oakwood and turn left or south on oakwood (if you cannot turn left at oakwood and st.clair, go past oakwood 2 blocks to a street called Lauder Avenue and make a left there and first st. make another left and that'll take you back to oakwood then make a right to go south on oakwood) which ends on davenport and take a right on davenport with an immediate left or south onto dovercourt, and take dovercourt all the way to Queen St. and make a right or west on Queen and very soon you'll hit Dufferin under the bridge and make a left or south on Dufferin to hit King.

going through the west end streets are your best bet, as there is very few congestions.
the bulk of the southbound is on either Ossington from route #1 or Dovercourt from route #2, there is fewer traffic on Dovercourt however Dovercourt becomes a small street after Bloor St and there is a POPO station between Dundas and Queen so you wanna be careful in that stretch. Ossington is 2 lane all the way, and very few traffic as well but if you want clear sailing, Dovercourt is the better route.

note: you might experience some traffic at st.clair approaching bathurst but after that, it clears up dramatically. there is a way to get around it but i dun wanna get you lost.
St. clair is by far the best street to head west on except maybe dupont.

As an alternate route to avoid that traffic on bathurst and st.clair, you can head west on st.clair and turn left or south onto Spadina and follow the road, Spadine becomes another street name and then becomes Spadina again around Casa Loma and George Brown, if you follow the road, you'll eventually end up back on Spadina and then make a right or west on Dupont until you get to Dovercourt and then proceed with Route #2
