I'd like to know if anywhere has installed an in-car computer with touchscreen monitor. If so what is the config and what functionality do you have?
I'm thinking of building something like this (http://www.xenarc.com/product/cp1000.html).
Here's what I'd like to set it up to do.
1)Navigation
2)Mp3/Ogg/WMV audio
3)DVD/Divx etc
4)OBDII diagnostics

used to have one....but it's currently undergoing upgrades (lack of funds....i have too many hobbies). Basically winXP with touchscreen and a ICE frontend (I used mediaCar)....trying to add gps and possibly ODB functionality, although my car is OBDI so it would be almost pointless.

Where'd you stash the comp? In the trunk or under a seat? What about cooling and wiring?

The first build was actually done off a laptop, stashed behind the passenger seat and powered off an inverter that was wired to the car battery. Cooling wasn't a concern since it was a laptop, and even if I upgraded it to a non-laptop setup it won't be since I'm comfortable with running it at 50-60C.
The laptop setup worked, but it lacked subtlety and functionality. I wanted to improve on a couple of things, namely optimizing bootup/suspend. I'm actually saving up and waiting for nano-itx to come out before continuing the build...possibly modding it a bit as well (putting everthing inside a car amp heatsink).
