View Full Version : What do bad drivers drive?

Just my observation, since i am on the road quite a bit everyday.I do not mean to offend anybody, of course there are alwasy some good and bad driver driving each type of car. But has anyone noticed that there are alot of Corollas out there, with drivers who cant' drive??? :)
It's alwasy the corollas who go 30 -40 on a main street, or drive 80km/h on the 401... or turn out from a side street crawling.
Again, no offence to Corolla owners out there.

Dude this is totally my thread. Did you just take my response from the other thread and created your own??!! :) LOL
I say... OFFENSE to Corolla drivers! You can't drive like the way you learned in driving school. That was just to teach you how to pass the test. In reality, you have to drive PROPERLY. That means you drive according to road conditions, not in your little world where your instructor told you not to exceed the speed limit and you interpret that as speed limit minus 20 km/h.

no offense but I think the reason of bad driving in markham is due to some other reasons. again, do not start flame wars and such, everyone knows many(not all) asian people can not drive the way it should be driven on canadian roads. even my asian friends admit this fact.

Not just Corollas, but GOLD Corollas. Gold Camrys as well, with front and rear bumpers where the gold paint seems to be a slightly different tint than the rest of the car (for all those that don't catch the hint, they have been in fender benders).

Another vote for tan colored Corolla & Camry.
These drivers should pay extra for insurance as they cause other drivers to become aggressive.
When I see them parked by the side of the highway with hood open and smoke pouring out, I honk, wave and laugh at them.
When I see them in the ditch beside the highway after major snow storm or freezing rain, I honk, wave and laugh even more.

Usually the BMW X5s are good but the big hunkers, like Navigators, the big Lexus one which are usually driven by the sterotypical "soccer-mom" have no clue how to drive.

I don't want to overgeneralize, but in Markham, this definately seems to be the case. Just drive by Pacific mall.. I guarantee you on any given day you'll see at least a few people who never should have gotten their license in the first place.

Just about any car with an obnoxious exhaust.. You know the kind that you can hear from 50 metres away. Weaving through traffic, tailgating, one Civic meeting the description spun out in front of me on the DVP onramp, almost t-boned him going 90km/hr.

Let me tell you about the wider is better thing. Back in the 60s they had the same crap. They (Pontiac) had a "wider is better" slogan and commercial. I saw the commercial on a car show that shows commercials and original tests of the older cars. It is not new at all. After working on a lot of different cars over the years you begin to realize that most people are driving a fantasy, not the car itself. It is amazing how many people will ignore how sh*t a car is because the commercial is cool, or the car comes with a sticker package or a skirt kit. I call the GTP a mid life crisis mobile. They are usually black or red.

i agree with you there. a couple of weeks ago there was an idiot behind me trying to get past me. this was at mccowan and steeles. he ended up passing me, continued to weave in and out of traffic until we hit, you guessed it, pacific mall. makes sense to endanger people's lives to save what? not even five minutes?

Many drive too slowly, take FOREVER to accelerate (and brake once they get within 1Km/h of the speed lmit) and even though they get cut off by pissed off drivers tailgaiting them, they don't care and keep driving the same way.

Punks driving sh*tbox rusted out Civics with bigass mufflers worth more than the whole car. Another thing that bugs the hell out of me is idiots who drive at night with no lights. I see that often enough. I've heard that street gangs do that and wait for someone to flash their lights at them. Then they pull along side and bang bang. An initiation for new gang members. Something to think about the next time you see someone driving with lights off.

I find 1/2 the time I'm stuck behind a slow driver it is inevitably a corolla...other 1/2 of the time various cars. What gives? I know friends that have them and they're not all slow drivers, I guess there's so many of them out there and they're more of a 'beginner's' car?
Expensive cars driven slow just feel like a knife into my heart, like when I saw an old lady driving a new Jag XJR around 45-50 on a 60 with traffic going around 70.....still feel it....poor underutilized car.... :P

No, its not gold. And I thought the arguement was that they drive slow, what does being drunk have to do with it?
Also, about people driving slowly, I could care less as long as they stay outta my way (ie, stay in the right lane). I guess a couple of exceptions to that are:
1) Single lane
2) Coming off the ramp.
On #2, once I came off of a ramp and started accelerating while moving into the proper lane. There was some guy in front of me, by the time I hit 100, he was still at 80, and decided to stay at 80. And couldn't move left cuz a stupid truck was blocking me

Actually that was my description of their poor timing and judgement while driving because the first post in the thread was actually more about the drivers being terrible. Driving slow was another bad trait of these same drivers mentioned by Neb. Now of course I don't mind if people drive slow so long as they stay out of my way as well, but have you ever seen when the slow idiot comes to a complete stop on the onramp and causes a line-up? That is just the cherry on top for sure.

Often times slow drivers are terrible drivers as a disruption in the flow of the traffic leads to many complications such as many people having to avoid or pass (irregular movement meaning more chance of accidents) and more people getting pissed off = road rage = more unpredictable things happening.

1. Morons driving Camrys who keep on braking while the car in front of them is accelerating 300 meter ahead of him/her. When I have nothing to do, (i.e. going home from work) I will go in front of them, and start tapping on my brake in front of them, the same way they do it, that will scare them so much that they will stay 500m behind me.
2. Drivers (generally domestic cars) who cut in front of you when you are driving 120km/h in the left lane on 401 while they are going 80km/h. I really wonder if they do it on purpose because they drive such a piece of crap and want to get it totalled and get a replacement from insurance. Because if i think about moving into another lane, i will actually see how fast the car is going beside me before I make the lane change, I would stay in my lane if I know i will be too slow to make that lane change even if that car is 5 car length behind me.
3. SUVs drivers who doesn't know how to stay in their own lane, if the truck is too big for them, they should sell it, and buy something like a Tercel, which should be small enough for them to fit it in one lane.

Never mind bad drivers, how about bad pedestrians, heh.
I've seen on several occasion where the sidewalk hardly has any snow, on a road where vehicles travel 60-80KM/h I see old grannies with their walk-assistant with the basket out in front walking opposite to the flow of traffic, taking up the middle of the lane. I'm scared for them.

probably a function of the fact that when you drive with a clutch, you have to be a bit more attentive and active when driving. i always get bored when i have to drive an automatic: bored = inattentive = sloppy = bad driving = collisions
i'd be interested to see if the number of accidents involving automatics is disproportionate to those of manual transmissions.

Gotta agree. How many women pull into a parking spot crooked, back out and try again, and leave the car on the same angle anyway. Or when I see a woman doing the rapid head whip shoulder check, I don't even bother passing because it is obvious they are nervous, and they will wait a few seconds and go for it. I always point these things out to my GF just to make sure I am not being biased and she agrees. Sometimes SHE points out the crooked reparking thing and the "go for it" lane changes.

Lately I've noticed import SUV's getting way more agressive. They must be sticking more HP under the hood because I never used to see these things trying to 'jump out in front and cut in'. I get raced on double-left turn lanes all the time by them lately, it's kinda freaky because you look up into the window and see this 30-40 yr. old woman behind the wheel and she's gunning for your spot in a very unlikely race vehicle.

ive noticed that pattern, the term you're looking for is "ghetto-ricer"
by far the worst drivers drive Acura EL's (a fancy civic). the majority of them never do shoulder checks, race and jump into your lane without signalling then slow down suddenly. whats worse is they attempt to initiate "races" on the highway with others minding their own business (like high-end BMWs, G35's, 350Z, RX8's or anything they think their car is faster than) for no apparent reason. all in all, they're WAYY too aggressive and annoying.

that can't see over the streeling wheel can't drive very fast, + can't see, so causes them to drive slower.
drive 40 k/m on local main roads in a 60 zone.. I'm stuck behind the drive because beside I'm being passed by the city BUS!!! geeezz.. that just ticks me off cuz everyone knows everyone sees a bus and you always pass by them.. not that one time.. drives so so I hit every single red light.
people who don't do 100 k/m merging onto the highway. causing people going 100+ on the highway to slow down because people are going 60-80km comming off from the off ram to the highway..
people who like to ride the brake to stay a safe distance.. with enough space for 2 large trucks to cut in front.
people who don't signal.. that alread know that they are turning or turning into your lane.
people who can't park or drive in a parking lot!

2. Worst Lane Changers/agressive drivers - Civic hackbacks
I agree 100%! I almost got rear-ended by one yesterday coming home! A blue riced-out civic changed lanes to right behind me as the traffic light was turning amber - I was stopping for the light but was watching him in my rearview mirror the whole time. As soon as I heard his wheels start to screech loudly I let off the brake and coasted/gassed through the light (I made sure traffic hadn't started the other way yet, as well). Had I not been watching him so keenly and just stopped for the light (doesn't it specify stopping for lights somewhere in the law...? ;) ), we both would have had higher insurance right now and smashed up bumpers (damn insurance companies blaming you when it's not your fault). To rub it in, I saw 4 more people run "deep ambers"/reds on the rest of my way home that night.

Hahaha! That sound like me - I do this same reciprocal stuff to slow/@sshole drivers sometimes - I go in front of them and drive like they do to show them how annoying it is.
My most-feared vehicles;
-beat-up vans (especially white ones without windows in the back - my ex calls them "molester specials")
LOL - I have a pet name for these too: "rapist vans" - and they scare the crap out of me!
Punks driving sh*tbox rusted out Civics with bigass mufflers worth more than the whole car.
It's annoying but it's also the most common thing (riced-out Civics and Integras) so you have to get used to this one...

The WORST and RUDEST drivers I seen drive VPD PATROL CARS (Vancouver Police Department). It pisses me off EVERYTIME I see them do this:
1) Drive normal up to intersection
2) Light turns yellow to red before he/she can cross
3) turns on siren to run red light seconds before crossing
4) turns off siren after intersection
5) continue driving normal
What a bunch of *******d ******g *******s. I wont even mention the no signal lane change/turns and the cut-offs and omg....the speeding! I dont think they have the right to even hand out tickets. Not all of them are ****s though, I have met some good ones and I find they behave themselves more then in pairs. :|
Police cars have the highest colllison rate, I'm betting on its the way they drive and their "because I am the police" attitude.

I would say the worst drivers I've seen drive Crown Victorias and have grey hair (the nearly-deads)- they turn right look only right/turn left look only left/have very stiff necks/speedometer is stuck 20km/hr below speed limit/drive through green light intersection with brakes on-Scary!

my opinion..
Those folks driving those big brown Buick sedans (Century)...
For some reason the car makes them
a) drive really really slow
b) don't know what a <- means..or drive really slow while turning on the advance green

Taxi cabs...
I second that... cabbies are the worst... they don't respect anyone.
Also I feel that the 18 wheeler drivers are pretty bad on the highways as they'll cut off anyone.

I think any car in the Markham area is bad :) I avoid driving there as much as possible. I can tolerate slow drivers to a certain extent, because they are consistently slow. Its the ones who drive fast, then slow, then fast, then slow...etc that you need to worry about. The chinese drivers out there don't look before they do anything (change lanes, turn left, turn right, or even brake when there's nobody in front of them).
I've yet to see a VW Golf or Jetta go at/under the speed limit in the GTA... or drive rationally for that matter.

bad drivers come in all shapes and sizes
let me just rant a bit here...
I drive a 21 year old shtbox and yes its slow as hell and my main beef is when I'm slowly putting along...some ****** decides to drive up my ass in the hopes that I'll go faster. Trust me, I would go faster if I could but I clearly can't. When I'm in a different car and I see a slowass junker car on the road... instead of driving up his ass.. I understand that it can't go fast, so I just pass them and then problem solved.
The second thing that annoys me so fcking much is when my turn is coming up soon and so I'm driving in the left lane and going a good 10+km/hr over the speedlimit and yet people decide to drive right up my ass. These people expect me to pull over into the right lane and let them pass. First of all, If your willing to break the law by speeding then you'll have no problem breaking the law by passing on the right. So when I see someone being a moron like this.. what I've started to do is usually finger them or something so they get the picture.. and if they decide they dont wanna fck off.. then down to 30km/hr I go and they can tailgate me for even longer.

Yeah it's true when you drive a car that looks like a POS you get the shiny expensive cars giving you a hard time. Like racing you from the light to cut you off and turn in front of you, bullying in the parking lot, driving up your ass like you don't deserve to be there, and so on. We've got 4 cars on the family, one of them was a 1984 and looking like it, when I was out in that car I was constantly getting cheezed with agressive drivers...have to say in this young drivers didn't treat me any different but man, the middle-agers in the Lexus/Mercedes/Lincoln, even Buick set were really rude.

Those pinkish beige Corollas drive me bonkers. They are by far the worst group of drivers out there. Second are all other colours of Corollas.
After that, it's Volvos. They must buy Volvo's because they're afraid to crash, they must drive 10 km/hr under the speed limit for the same reason.
Having said all that, those Civics with big fat exhaust pipes are more likely to kill me on the road than the slow moving pinky beige Corolla.

I have noticed lately that a lot of traffic is caused by slow drivers. I mean it takes them forever to accelerate, and if it is happening on intersection barely 2-3 cars can pass intersection while driving behind them. DOHHHHH. I know these people have all the time on their hand, but I don’t. Why should I suffer because you driving **** box which should be dumped long time ago?
People who drive intentionally slowly have no respect for other drivers on the road, why should I have respect for them. If you cannot keep up with the traffic GET OUT OF THE WAY .
Sorry if I offended some you but I am going insane then I see slow drivers, cannot help it.
