My Columbia boots have shoelaces that keep on getting loose, and it's annoying when it's freezing outside, and I have to stop every once in a while to tie them back again.
Any solutions?

Double knot (http://www.google.ca/search?q=laces+double-knot).

Could be the waxy coating on the laces that makes it slippery.
Give it a good wash. Afterwards, while the laces are still wet, tie it up tight in a warm place.

ever try tying them the more efficient way? there's the whole "make one loop, make a second loop, tie them together method" I was taught back in elementary school,
but then there's also the "use thumb and forefinger of both hands" method that I've found more effective in keeping it together.
not sure if its my imagination, but I've always thought this other way of tying shoelaces kept them together better...

are the laces round? if so they'll never stay tight. get a flat pair of laces if this is the case.

Yeah the round laces never stay tied. Get some flat ones which really pull tight when you tie them.
I like the one on sneakers they have now. They are just like a hollow cloth tube with some soft sponge in it or something. But when those are tied and you pull them they never go loose which is a good thing especailly when you are on a treadmill at the gym. The more you pull them the more the lace gets smaller at the knot and tightens. Thats the key i figure to geting laces that don't come loose.

making 2 loops and tying them together is most efficient..
then you tie the 2 loopy things together...
this will last muchhh longer.

Flat laces are definitely the way to go ...

if you just can't get the laces to work for you, maybe you could try one of those plastic lace locks (they are barrel shaped, you push one end until an opening appears, thread the lace through it, and let go, it locks)
or you could just buy a big velcro strap and wind that over top of your laces.
