Just have a quick question. The mean people at Bell won't give me the deal even when i threaten to cancel. I'm guessing cuz i have some stupid package with my phone line. Anyays, is it possible to cancel the internet ONLY, and sign up again? Like, right now my internet is under my dad's name, could i cancel that, and sign up again on that new deal thats going on under my name like ASAP? Right now we're paying $40 a month plus $10 modem. I feel like i'm getting so scammed and i've been with them for 4 years (maybe 5) Anyways, i want to save my parents money..since everyone else is getting a killer deal.

i am pretty sure that if you want a deal, (like a $100 gift card from future shop) you will have to wait 60 days

I don't think you can cancel and sign up right away and get whatever promo they have. I think you have to wait six months before you're considered a new customer again. Changing names won't matter it's the phone number that the DSL is tied to that matters. That being said you should still be able to get a better deal. I think you just need to brush up on your social skills. Firstly I hope you're not calling Bell up and saying "I'm going to cancel unless you give me a better rate". They'll just let you go. What you want to do is call, and ask to cancel. Don't say anything more, the CS rep will ask "why you want to cancel" (I believe it's a standard procedure for them to do), just tell them Rogers (or whoever is there competitor in your area) has a promotion right now for XX free months or xx months for $yy.zz whatever there promo is and you are going to sign up. That's when the CS rep will offer you a deal or say something like what if we match there price for blah blah months. The key is when you call up you should be ready to actually cancel the DSL if you don't get a better deal or they'll be able to tell when you talk that you're not really serious about cancelling. Anyways I got my 5 months for $24.95 and when that expired called them up and got them to keep the same rate for a few more months.

Another issue with cancelling is that they might pull your line card and assign it to someone else in your area if there is a waiting list for DSL subscribers. That could mean a major headache for you. I would suggest switching to another DSL provider that is cheaper if Bell isnt going to give you anything. Check out the forums on DSLreports.com. A DSL company called IGS is now giving out free trial accounts that you can use to try out their service. All you do is input the userid/password they give you into your PPPoE software/router.

I can give you 2 months free from Rogers while you wait for them to give you the new subscriber promo.

Love the competition!

Well the problem with mine is, i have this stupid bundle and i get 120 free long distance minutes (north america and a few countries) BUT, if i want to bargain with a deal, i have to bargain with bell phone. Sympatico is not involved since i'm paying for sympatico through bell phone thingie. Anyways, the people there are really stiff and won't budge. I've called about 5 times (on different days) and they all won't give deals. I'm guessing bell phone line just won't budge. Also i have to cancel the 120 free long distance to be able to ATTEMPT to bargain with sympatico, since i will be dealing through them. So i'm not sure, because if i cancel the long distance, i will lose the 120 minutes, but if i KNOW FOR SURE i will get $25 for 6 months, it sure beats 120 free LD minutes anytime. Thats my problem..if i lose that promotion, and sympatico won't budge, i'm ****ed.
