Thought it'd be fun to see how much ppl blow their money on things, just because they think they're getting a deal. Or just post stuff you've purchased that might have been made on impulsive.
I'm sure most ppl on RFD buy stuff because they want to get it before the deal is done, or before its "out of stock" lol....you probably dont even need it.
I'll start. I've never really wanted an XBox cause I knew i'd never have time to play it often with university and coop, but then a friend's friend had a deal on a Crystal Xbox Bundle for $180, brand new! Altho the deal couldn't go through in the end, I was so ready and "into" buying an Xbox. I've made the following purchases ever since December 1st:
$219.99 - XBOX Holiday Pack (Controller, Top Spin & Amped 2)
$ 40.00 - XBOX EB Games 2 Yr Warranty
$ 34.99 - Extra Controller
$ 39.99 - XBOX HDTV AV Pack
$ 24.94 - Chrome XBOX Skin
$ 64.99 - Ninja Gaiden
$ 24.99 - Dead or Alive 3
$ 39.99 - NBA Live 2005
$ 53.91 - 8 Games From MicroPlay to trade in via BB deal for Burnout 3 & X-Men Legends
$ 29.99 - NFL Madden 2005
$ 19.99 - Fight Night 2004
Total: $ 682.84 (including tax)
......i rarely play it.....sigh :cry:

This was many years ago. I was with my friend and we were at his friends house. The guy pulled out a huge bag of weed that was literally one of those full large ziploc bags full of herbs. He said that was an ounce and it was the biggest ounce I ever saw in my life. I immediately ran to the bank pulled out $200 and swiped it from the guy. This bag was literally 3 times the size as a regular ounce, it was super light and it was pretty good also. That was one of my impulsive purchases. :cheesygri

ahh thats the worst. buying something u think you need. realizing you dont. selling it for maybe half the value to try to redeem some of that wasted money. then kicking yourself in the arse.

Hmmm too many.
Gameboy SP about a year ago for $110 with FF Tactics. Used it maybe 3 times.
Gamecube - Used it less than 10 times over the past year. Although it's gotten more use now because of RE4.
Xbox - $199 for the console, 120 gig hd and $100 for chip/install. It's been sitting at my friends house since May 2004 and I have no urge to pick it up.
Epson r200 printer, $9 deal. Too lazy to open it and set it up. I also forgot to send in the $20 visa rebate.... But I guess at $29 still a good deal.

Shortly after I got my credit card I bought a bunch of car crash videos off an informercial. You know the one's where they hide the fine print about it being in US dollars, and actually being $20 per tape.
Cost me over $100, and the tapes were the biggest pile of crap I'd ever watched. In hours of footage there was maybe 2 interesting crashes. Like what they would show is a guy falling off a motorcycle, then skidding across the track. But they would show the 5 minutes of the race before the crash that had nothing, then they would replay the whole thing from 10 different angles.
I've never seen any videos since then with so much filler.

I don't see other fellow female RFDers here :)
Are they really that good at controlling themselves? Or, they refuse to admit that all the clothes and jewelleries they have are results of "impulsive" buying?
I love buying bags. I have over 15 bags/handbags/purses/backpacks to match different outfits at different occasions. I know I will use them one day ;) I know I will.

I regret buying most of my ties, I never seem to use them. I did buy a 65 buck tie once on impulse at the Eaton Center then was walking through the mall and it hit me that I'd spend SIXTY FIVE bucks. Turned right around and returned it.
I regret NOT buying a house 10 years ago. I had (have) a cheap apt.
Still its only 650/month for a 1 bdrm so who's complaining. Aside from house prices raising like 20-30Grand this year.
Sorry! Don't want to 360 the thread. ;)

Palm T3: $460, portable external battery add-on: $80
Sony Cybershot P100 (boxing day), with memory stick: $400 + tax

I got in on the Dell Axim X3 deal back in November 2003, was actually right after I joined RedFlags. I do use it, mainly for watching ,ovies on the go, but once I get a PSP and use that for watching videos I doubt my Aim will get too much use.
Another purchase that I don't regret but know I was getting ripped off was 1 gb CF card I bought while in Italy. I paid around $300 Canadian for it back in August in Milan but I felt I had to get a bigger card as I was eating up both my 256mb and 512mb card pretty fast. Now I was in Italy for a month so I figured I wasn't sure when I'd be back so I wanted to take as many pics as I could.

I bought an SMC 802.11g router to replace my b router. It was because I do a lot of transfers in my LAN. Still it was too expensive,
I am not reading the hot deals section of this website and I am not going into stores.
It's not that I really spend that much money, I just buy a lot of little things that make my credit card bill be about 300 a month. That may not be much, but I am unemployed and not eligable for EI. Good incentive to get off my butt and look for work

Asus A620 PPC + 128MB CF/Wifi card + GPS CF card.
Total cost was around $575. I barely used it on my trip since it sucked so much juice it was usable for only 3 hours (plus the GPS software I chose didn't do realtime trip corrections, I had to pull over a few times to reorient the GPS and my trip planner). I barely use it nowadays. I only turn it on for streaming some music or when I wanna check email and I'm too lazy to turn on my laptop/desktop :grin:
Gamecube + about 15 games + 2 Wavebirds + 2 extra memory cards and I'm still buying games for it (i haven't picked up my RE4 pre-order yet). I haven't finished any of them yet and I barely put in any significant game time on it. I only bought the 'Cube since FS had it for I believe $89 AR a year and a half ago. At that price it was hard to refuse.
Most regretful purchase:
Sega Saturn way back when it launched in North America. I was thinking PSX the whole way but after I saw a Virtua Fighter demo running at EB, I just had to get it. I must've sunk at least $2000 on that console. I imported a whole bunch of games and bought a ton of peripherals for it and still barely played it.

2x leather jackets - 300 + 400
jugs of tropicana in two terms of University - 200
diamond necklace - > 1000

I made a list of questions to ask yoruself before you make the next impulse buy.
Feel free to add others so we all end up with more money and less useless crap. :cheesygri
1. Do I need this?
2. Who will this benefit?
3. Is it worth the money?
4. Why do I need it?
5. Where will it be in 6 months?
6. Who really wants it? Me or the person persuading me?
7. How long is the refund period?
8. How much is resell?
