I can't go back that far.
My first hotmail account has long been dead(closed it due to spam).
Though I can remember my first e-mails. Think they were from some chat room people.
Although I did manage to find a guest book note that I left back in 97 via the power of google. ;)

I didn't archive my first e-mail, or a whole lot of other e-mails for that matter. I'm surprised you actually did. Mine was in 1995. I first got into the whole internet thing in my first year of university. A personal e-mail with essentially no substance to it. I sent out a whole bunch of "I have your e-mail address, just testing. Please reply.". and received a whole bunch of "yup. Got it". "Cool". etc etc. :cheesygri
And back in the days, those ASCII arts were big, trend-wise and physical size-wise.

MR. Wang Qin.
HANG SENG BANK LTD,
DES VOEUX RD.BRANCH
CENTRAL HONG KONG
HONG Kong
.
I am Mr. Wang Qin, credit officer of Hang Seng Bank Ltd,I have an
urgent and very confidential business proposition for you.I honestly
apologize and hope I do not cause you much embarrassment by contacting
you through this means for a transaction of this magnitude , but this is
due to confidentiality and prompt access reposed on this medium, sorry my
English is not very good.
Furthermore, due to this issue on my hands now,it became necesary for me
to seek your assistance, and it is imperative for me to know your
opinion. On sept. 6,2000, an American Oil consultant/contractor with the
chinese Solid Minerals Corporation, Mr. Richard Nault made a numbered
time (Fixed) Deposit for twelve calendar months, valued at US$30,000,000.00
(Thirty Million Dollars only) in my branch.Upon maturity,I sent a routine
notification to his forwarding address but got no reply. After a month,
we sent a reminder and finally we discovered from his contract employers,
the Hong Kong Solid Minerals Corporation that Mr. Richard Nault died from
an automobile accident. On further investigation, I found out that he died
without making a WILL, and all attempts to trace his next of kin was fruitless.
I therefore made further investigation and discovered that Mr. Richard
Nault did not declare any kin or relations in all his official documents,
including his Bank Deposit paperwork in my Bank. This sum of US$30,000,000.00
is still sitting in my Bank and the interest is being rolled over with the
principal sum at the end of each year.No one will ever come forward to claim it.
According to Laws of Hong Kong, at the expiration of 5(five) years, the money will
revert to the ownership of the Hong Kong Government if nobody applies to claim the
fund.Consequently, my proposal is that I will like you as a foreigner to stand in
as the next of kin to Mr. Richard Nault so that the fruits of this old man's labor
will not get into the hands of some corrupt government officials. This is simple,
I will like you to provide immediately your full names and address so that the attorney
will prepare the necessary documents and affidavits that will put you in place as the
next of kin.We shall employ the services of an attorney for drafting and
otarization of the WILL and to obtain the necessary documents and letter of
probate/administration in your favor for the transfer. The money will be
paid into your account for us to share in the ratio of 70% for me and 25%
for you and 5% for Expenses Incurred in the course of the transaction.
There is no risk at all as all the paperwork for this transaction will
be done by the attorney, and with my position as the credit officer
guarantees the successful execution of this transaction. If you are interested , please
reply immediately. You may reply to my email box,wangqin_co@myway.comUpon your response.
I shall then provide you with more details and relevant documents that will help you
understand the transaction. Please send me your confidential telephone and fax numbers
for easy communication. You should observe utmost confidentiality, and be rest assured
that this transaction would be most profitable for both of us because I shall require
your assistance to invest my share in your country.
Awaiting your urgent reply.
Thanks and regard,
Mr. Wang Qin

>INTERNET DAY OF PROTEST: TUESDAY DECEMBER 12, 1995
>Outrageous proposals to censor the Internet demand that the Internet
>Community take swift and immediate action. We must stand up and let
>Congress know that we will not tolerate their attempts to destroy this
>medium! Please join hundreds of thousands of your fellow citizens in a
>National Day of Protest on Tuesday December 12, 1995.
>
>As you know, on Wednesday December 6, 1995, the House Conference
>Committee on Telecommunications Reform voted to impose far reaching and
>unconstitutional "indecency" restrictions on the Internet and other
>interactive media, including large commercial online services (such as
>America Online, Compuserve, and Prodigy) and smaller Internet Service
>Providers such as Panix, the Well, Echo, and Mindvox.
>
>These restrictions threaten the very existence of the Internet and
>interactive media as a viable medium for free expression, education,

>Libraries will not be able to put any books online that might

>
> Sample phone call:
> Both the House and Senate bills designed to protect children

I still have a copy of one of my dad's emails from 1995. It contained cheat codes for various PC games of the day. First started using the internet in 1993 though, with a 14.4k modem and going through the cryptic Windows 3.1 dial-up scripts.

I never bothered to scoop my old stuff off the VAX that handled it at the local university. But basically been doing Internet (tcp/ip SMTP-based) email since 1989.
And yeah, 2400 baud (0.3 kb/sec) was considered fairly modern 'back then'. 9600 baud (~1.2kb/sec) modems were over $1000 a piece back then too.

Nine Things that Piss Me Off -
Adam Sandler: 1. People who point at their wrist while asking for thetime. I know where my watch is buddy, where the f*** is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the bathroom is?
2. The Pillsbury doughboy is way too happy considering he has no dick.
3. People who are willing to get off their ass to search the entire room for the TV remote because they refuse to walk to the TV and change the channel manually.
4. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eatit too." **** off. What good is a goddamn cake you can'teat?
5. When people say "It's always in the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the **** would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they?
6. When people say, while watching a movie "Did you see that?"No A**HOLE, I paid $7.50 to come to the theatre and stare at the friggin ceiling up there. 7. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?"..... Didn't really give me a choice, did ya there buddy?
8. When something is "new and improved", which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then it must not be the first one!!
9. When a cop pulls you over and then asks if you know how fast you were going? You should know ******* you f***ing pulled me over!

My first email account was probably back in '95-96? from the free AOL trials. lol. Then I had a yahoo email when I chatted in Yahoo chats. Then I moved over to hotmail. Then I switched over to gmail in 2004.
Before gmail, hotmail only had a 2MB limit or something ridiculous like that. so, I always had to delete emails. I thought I might have had a couple from my first g/f, but it looks like I've deleted all of those. here's the earliest I could find in my hotmail account:

Hey, Glad you liked Mona! I couldn't stop laughing when I first say it. I'm trying to get out of my bio-lab on Thursday and do it on Wednesday instead so I can be at Ascension by 8:30 or so or else I'll have to leave on Friday morning but I'll stop by the school. We'll see what happens. If you win the lottery you'll just have to share a chunk of that cash with me. Let's say 70:30 (70 for me :0)). I'm bored at the moment too. I only have to the intro to my bio lab which isn't due till next thursday and then I'm done my homework for the week. That's a good thing 'cause its homecoming this weekend and everyone will be piss drunk. We have something called the C.O.R. which takes care of any drunks whose friends don't want to babysit them. Usually it opens at 11pm but on Saturday it will open at 4PM!! That just shows you how much people will be drinking. I can't wait! And no I am not turning into a drunk. I haven't drank since Sunday and I never have more than 2 drinks. Talk to you later,Valerie

Hey bro,
Just invented this program-like thing and I wanted to share it with you. I was trying to come up with a cool name for this internetwork of tubes. Rolled a fatty and decided to give you a message. It's like lettermail but in electronic form. Damn, guess I need a name for that too.
Anyways, I'm kinda craving some coffee, so I'm going to check if the coffee pot is ready. Wouldn't it be neat if there was some way of checking online to see if it was ready?
